Despite my overwhelming disdain for Ben Affleck, after seeing this trailer, I WILL be seeing this movie.

I expected Wonder Woman to be more buff. Kinda like a Lucy Lawless or Chyna. No, not Chyna. Forget I said that,

@”I’m done this” Lumpy: Look, a your mother joke. Those never get old, certainly not older than your mother and Bryan Cranston! 🙂

What, no edit feature! That would be HWNN not HNWW.

@Lumpy: I give you a way out and you double-down on stupid.

HNWW did not “re-iterates the question.” He asked a new question.

Tell Bugs to stop clubbing your head so hard to bring out all the lumpyness. He’s giving you “huge” brain damage.

You MISSED everything. Didn’t realize your “rats ass” affected reading comprehension.

“I’m done this.” We can hope, but who cares really.

Anyway, the trailer on youtube has now 21.78 million plus views, 236 thousand plus likes and a measly under 7 thousand dislikes. Seems about right to me.

Do check out the first trailer for trailer for Suicide Squad. Just got released.

Damn, Warner / DC! Taking no prisoners! No funny jokes! This looks so bloody dark and twisted. Right down my alley! Killer Croc looks a bit off (hope he will look a bit better in the finished film), but other than that, hell, yeah!

Margot Robbie as Harley licking a prison bar made my day 🙂

They should have had Ryan Reynolds play Batman, since he is really good at doing comic book characters. He’s already done Hannibal King, Green Lantern, Nick from RIPD, and 2 different versions of Deadpool. I also am not that big a fan of Ben Affleck either, but he was the bomb in Phantoms. But that is my opinion and it doesn’t necessarily reflect the views of DC Comics or Warner Bros.

Impressed with everything in the trailer so far… except with Gal as Wonder Woman. -_-

Now, now, guys. No need to get into a fight about one of my comments.

Couple of things:

Thanks to those who helped to explain what I wanted to say. And yes, Lumpy, you are always more than welcome to take the mickey out of me 🙂

Yes, these are two different subjects. I stated why I feel Warner Bros. wanted Affleck. These are opions that are available on the internet… so I did not break new ground here. Of course these are speculations, but they sound credible (to me at least). Also the runner-up for the role was Josh Brolin (who also played a comic book character before and who now will voice Thanos in the Marvel movies). Given these options, I do prefer Ben Affleck. Clearly there are some interesting young actors out there, but Warner wanted a more “seasoned” actor for the part. And when you look at the latest trailer, especially in the early shots with him, he does look somewhat old and gaunt. I personally like this, because it does present an interesting contrast to all this youth hype and the de-aging of characters (i.e. the new FF, new Spider-Man, etc.). While it works sometimes to go young (Michael Fassbender is fantastic as young Magneto), I do feel the “more seasoned” approach in regard to Batman makes sense. Now, before anybody says: “Now they could cast any older guy”, see my comments above. Am I the greatest Ben Affleck fan? No, but given the options and having seen what I have seen so far, makes me optimistic. I also happen to like most of Zack Snyder’s movies. Yes, scripts have been his weak point, but now look, Affleck brought in “his” Oscar winning writer from Argo. Seems also an approvement over Goyer, since even though I do like Man of Steel a great deal, the script could have been a little better. Also an older Batman takes care of what people (also in this thread) ask about: how do you fit in WW (and Aquaman)? Simple. This Batman has been around for a long time, and Affleck stated that he (Batman) and WW already know each other. Maybe they met without WW revealing herself to the world at large, who knows, but with an established history between these two, it will be easier to introduce her to the movie going audience.

As for this new Lex Luthor: makes perfect sense. Batman / Bruce Wayne respresents “old money” and Batman is a defender of the status quo, this Lex Luthor stands for a different generation (millennials) with a sense of up-start and entitlement. This makes for an interesting dynamic, rather than having an older Lex who is from “old money” or who made his fortune when he and Bruce both were young. Eisenberg is the same age as Henry Cavill. Hard to believe, but true. So casting Jesse Eisenberg as Lex does make some sense as well. My opinion 🙂

Now, I did offer my opinion why Ben Affleck wants to play Batman. Total different point, true. But in my opinion (my opinion) I’d rather have an actor (!) play Batman who has a love for the character than to have some random guy who feels this “kids stuff” is beneath him and that he has to work hard (as an actor) to make this work. I rather have a guy there who wants to be there, and not somebody like Josh Trank who in every interview worked hard to tell people that he intends to make the FF “grounded” so it can work. So what now, Stan and Jack were idiots? Such statements come from a total lack of understanding of the source material and shows no love for it. So, to me, I’d rather have a guy there (Affleck) who wants this to work because he also is a fan. No, this will not make him a better actor nor will it ensure that he is great at playing Batman, but he will try his hardest. Truly, one can not ask for more. Also if you need proof of his love for comic books: there is a Jack Kiry connection to the events depicted in Argo. I am very certain this is well known to Affleck. Go, google Kirby and Argo 🙂

Now, will any of this make the movie good or great? It might or the movie might suck, but I feel they at least took the right steps to make it good. But once again: whatever people feel about the movie once it gets released (or Affleck as Batman) it is really more or less based on taste. I know people who did not like Man of Steel. There is no way to argue with them. Either you like something or you don’t. If you think that Affleck is horrible in general (as an actor), you will certainly find movies where this is the case. I’d rather hope this not one of those movies 🙂

@Seer: Yes, Horse said all that stuff about him being WB’s golden boy and an Oscar winner.
Then Horse re-iterates the question “Why Affleck as Batman?” Then he appears to offer his
own opinion which is, that “he is a huge Batman fan”.
That, is what my comment was a response to. Which, YOU clearly missed, or perhaps you’re dyslexic. Either way I couldn’t give a rats ass.
I’m done this.

Seer

@evilyan: Sucker Punch didn’t have an oscar winning screenwriter writing or co-writing the screenplay. BvS does. Maybe it’ll be good.

Seer
Seer

First, this stuff not important!

Second, I too missed something. HorseWNN didn’t repeat KL’s casting question, he answered KL’s why cast Affleck question first, and then asked a new question “Why would Affleck [choose or agree to] play Batman?” So not a why would they cast him question repeat, but a why would Affleck choose to play the role question. A bit different. And if I’m not mistaken (could be), think Affleck sort of answers that question during the comic con panel. It’s on YouTube.

I missed it. Lumpy missed it. Stuff happens..

I was watching the trailer and I was like “how the f#$% are they gonna fit Wonder Woman in with both the Superman and Batman plots, AND Lex Luthor, and the other heroes that are supposedly in this thing?”

It looks beautiful, but Zach Snyder’s only really shines during adaptations, where he has a story to follow. When it’s original content… well we get stuff like Sucker Punch.

@Lumpy: “because he is Warner’s golden boy at the moment. Argo won the Oscar for best picture (in which he had the lead, which he co-produced and directed). Warner has already greenlit his next movie project as director, after which he will supposedly direct “The Batman”, which he is also co-writing…”

This is the part you’re missing. He’s done good work for them, they like and trust him…AND he really wanted to play Batman in this movie. Doesn’t mean he’ll be any good in the role, but Horse said more than just, ‘because he’s a huge Batman fan’.

Lumpy
Lumpy

@Seer: After Horse answered the question, “Why would Affleck play Batman?” What reason other than Ben Affleck is a “huge Batman fan” did Horse make, that you seem be implying that I missed?

Seer

“Affleck play Batman? He is a huge”

I guess…with that logic…Marvel’s CGI Hulk should have been cast as Superman.

“Why would Affleck play Batman? He is a huge Batman fan.”

I guess…with that logic…Jerry Seinfeld should have been cast as Superman.

@ thanks for the info regarding Chris Evan’s as the Human Torch which although i have seen the Fantastic Four movies hadn’t really noticed it was the actor playing Captain America………that said I think playing the leading man in “DareDevil ” and now one of the 2 main leads in the “Batman v Superman” is of a bigger order since the Human torch seemed to be more of a peripheral character i.e if some mentions Fantastic four………….I don’t immediate think Human torch………..I think Jessica Alba…….and the Thing.
I hear a lot of comic book fans wanted Afflick removed from the project…….although for different reasons, but that’s Zack Snyder for you…….. I suppose it could have been worse……he might have cast Sly Stallone instead!

@ KL: because he is Warner’s golden boy at the moment. Argo won the Oscar for best picture (in which he had the lead, which he co-produced and directed). Warner has already greenlit his next movie project as director, after which he will supposedly direct “The Batman”, which he is also co-writing. Why would Affleck play Batman? He is a huge Batman fan. The man has a batcave in his house from what I have heard.

And an actor playing two different comic book characters? Chris Evans played the Human Torch and now he is Captain America. Wasn’t the best Torch and the FF movies were not great, but he is doing just fine as Cap. So, yes, there are better actors than Affleck, but as a “package deal” he makes a lot of sense for the studio. Here is hoping he will deliver as Batman.

KL
KL

Why cast Ben Afflick as Batman?………he did a good job as Daredevil (Directors cut is much better than the theatrical release by the way!)…………. having Afflick playing both Batman and Daredevil is a bit silly as I’m pretty sure there MUST have been quite a few other actors available to play Batman.

I am amused they seem to be running with the premise of: “Yes, Superman, you DID do a very lousy job of saving Metropolis, you moron.” Meanwhile, Batman appears to be in full-on obsessive, paranoid jerk-ass mode, and that’ll be the thrust of this fight, with Lex Luthor egging them on like a 8 year old in the playground chanting, “Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!”

You know what…I’d been dreading they’d model Wonder Woman as the sword-happy Xena knock-off the New 52 turned her into (and I still am), but seeing how Supes and Bats are presented in this trailer, I’m hoping Wonder Woman turns out to be the voice of reason that gets them to stop being idiots.

If that is what happens…I might actually be happy.

To be honest that looked pretty damn good, and while it might be only the trailer, all looked good on their parts, Ben Affleck actually looks good as Bruce Wayne here and Gal looked fine in the Wonder Woman costume, the guy plays Superman looked the part on Man of steel and actually plays the character well, so no complains here, really looking forward to this one.

Gal looks great. Excited to see this. Can’t wait to see her in her own feature film, too.

adam

looks damn good 🙂 still hoping for Gal (and script / director attention) to surprise us with acting ability. ( not a fan of the Fast Furious movies )

hope they don’t go for the man hating WW the Dc did in the 70s and 80s.
lynda carter’s portrayal was very balanced in personality. (my opinion)
also the WW from the Justice League animated shows was very good personality, rounded, believable.

Now THATs…a trailer! Holy can’t-wait-to-see-it, Batman!

Like everything about it: the visuals, the dialog, the music. Good stuff.

Looks like Wonder Gal will have 4 wardrobe changes (I’m also counting the pic on the web with her in gold dress with Wayne), so Diana/WW in 4 or more scenes.

You all could be right, but this was only a trailer. Just a note of caution to manage our expectations.

I am impressed! The tone seems quite similar to The Dark Knight, which is obviously what it needs to be. Looking forward to seeing this one.

Have just watched the trailer a couple of times. Looks awesome! Marvel can keep on making their little comedies (at least their Daredevil show is what I like and is all kinds of awesome), but BvS could be the epic movie Avengers Age of Ultron unfortunately was not. Here is hoping it will be just that!
