Episode 18 of The Battle For Earth series, Total Recall, picks up right where Episode 17 left off. Whereas Episode 17 features more of a mix of story and action, Total Recall focuses much more on Spawn’s efforts to break down Superianna, the main, Supergirl-ish character.
There actually isn’t much of a story to review in this particular episode. If you’re a peril fan who has been waiting for The Battle For Earth to get back to its roots, I think you’re going to be happy. Spawn’s plan is to control Superianna and use her as a weapon against Avalon. Spawn intends to accomplish this by physically and mentally humiliating Superianna as much as possible to bend her to his will.
As the episode begins, Superianna is immediately exposed to meteor rocks and spends a couple of minutes writhing helplessly on the floor. She finally manages to get to her feet and is rewarded for her fortitude by being punched, kicked, and reverse-bearhugged by Kaid. She is briefly able to recover when Spawn appears on the scene. Using his telekinetic powers, Spawn holds Superianna against the wall and briefly fondles her before she passes out.
When she wakes up there are some flashbacks to previous episodes and a few minutes of dialogue before the peril begins again in earnest. Spawn punches her several times and uses his power to strip off her cape, belt, and skirt. He then telekinetically rips several gashes in her uniform while again holding her helplessly against the wall. I think the ending is a bit ambiguous about Superianna’s future as a character, so I don’t want to spoil anything, and I’ll let you make your own interpretation.
As previously stated, I think this will be a film that peril lovers are going to enjoy. There wasn’t much movement forward in The Battle For Earth storyline, but previous episodes have been more story-centric, so I think fans will appreciate this peril-oriented episode.
