“Fail-Safe Sisters – Part 3” from Next Global Crisis

Fail-Safe Sisters - Part 3 from Next Global CrisisThe third episode of Next Global Crisis’ Fail Safe Sisters series features the return of the super-hot Lady Victory and the introduction of an interesting new villainess, the K.O. Queen. Will the apparently arrogant (or just confident) Lady Victory succeed against the K.O. Queen?

Fail-Safe Sisters - Part 3 from Next Global CrisisFail-Safe Sisters - Part 3 from Next Global CrisisFail-Safe Sisters - Part 3 from Next Global Crisis

We’re introduced to both characters in a pre-fight introduction, in which both ladies express their confidence that they will emerge victorious from the fight. The K.O. Queen practices her punches and kicks while Lady Victory stretches, striking some sexy yoga-like poses (whether this actually helps her prepare for a fight or not, it’s a nice thing for her to do for viewers such as myself). When the on-screen timer hits zero, the fight begins.

As you might expect, it’s a well executed fight, both by the performers and by the filmmakers.  I enjoyed the use of slow motion during key sections of the fight to mix things up and accentuate certain moves and reactions.  It’s a pretty brutal fight, with both ladies getting in their share of blows, and there’s even a little bit of blood and bruising to help sell the impact of the moves.  (Seriously, some of the blows seem like they would shatter the victim’s skull on impact…)

I won’t spoil the episode by revealing who wins—in fact, I won’t even reveal whether the K.O. Queen lives up to her name (you’ll have to watch the episode to find out!).  However, I normally enjoy the work of Next Global Crisis quite a bit, and this is another well-done episode, particularly for fans of the absolutely stunning Dominika van Santen as Lady Victory.  So, check out the episode, and I think you’ll enjoy it!

Nice feedback on this, thanks. I’m not really going to deal with individual points until the main review thread for this video, but it’s always an interesting read.

@Mark – I’ve only corresponded with anyone on the site email: nextglobalcrisis@gmail.com, I will answer there.

Very nice! Shadowstar is very sexy, she strikes a perfect balance between defiance and anxiety at her situation. She’s less arrogant than Lady Victory and you root for her to win even though it’s a lot of fun to see her dragged around, bearhugged, frozen, choked and generally harassed. The villain was creepy and his powers were executed pretty well. I’d love to have seen him take his statue home as he said he would, but I was fine with how it ended. Shadowstar deserved a victory after all the punishment, I’d say. By the way I’m a big fan of her worried looks, when she first witnessed the villain was perfection. I could watch her stretch with that expression on her face all day, totally hot.

Here’s my early review for FSS Part 4: ShadowStar vs Ice Slinger. I will repost when it gets its own thread.

As always with NGC, this FSS episode is well executed. The special effects are really well done. The fight choreography is actually very refreshing. NGC gives us some new fight moves rather than simply having the two combatants just trade hay-makers, without ever knocking anyone down. ShadowStar, of course, is as hot as freshly poured asphalt. Plus the acting is top notch.

There’s a lot to like with this episode.

Having said that, I have to say I was really disappointed. Don’t get me wrong. I love NGC. I buy everything they do without even previewing it. But I remember a while back NGC told us on this forum that a one-sided-beatdown of a sexy heroine was coming and man-o-manachevits I thought this was going to be it.

This episode had SOOOOOO much potential. Ice Slinger took control of the fight at about halfway through and I was on the edge of my seat waiting for the one-sided-humiliating defeat of the sexy super-heroine ShadowStar. But alas, in the end ShadowStar and Ice Slinger end up trading hay-makers without knocking either off their feet until ShadowStar throws the final punch into Ice Slinger’s glass jaw, knocking him into La-La-Land. .. Wa-wa-waaaaaa…. Bummer for me.

I’ve always turned to this genre because it’s the only place I get to see the heroine lose. If I wanted to see a sexy heroine trade heavy punches only to finally emerge triumphant, I’d watch mainstream episodes of Alias, Dark Angel, She Spies, or even Birds of Prey.

Again, this episode is well done. If you enjoy peril and some quality fight choreography in which the heroine takes some lumps but eventually comes back to win I’m sure you will love this episode. It is really great for that. The special effects and the assortment of moves incorporated into the choreography should wow and amaze you.

Me, I’ll just sit back and wait until I NGC produces the one-sided-beatdown I’ve been hoping against hope they will one day produce.

Slightly off topic (which I hate to do whilst the focus is obviously no the latest FSS release)!

We recently shared e – mail correspondence in regards the NGC competition involving Bluebird. In regards that, as my account was hacked, I would greatly appreciate if you could provide me your e – mail address as I have a question for you.

    Many thanks!

Whilst I shall once again repeat what I normally do, and that is to await the relating new thread to provide my full review, I just want to say that this is another simply outstanding release by the guys and girls of NGC! All the normal excellent qualities that have seen them reach whole new levels over the past several releases, rolled in with elements that have been ramped up to eleven on the scale, combined with a actress who is even pushing my ‘Gold Standard Heroine’ Claire Yellowlees close (and I LOVE Bluebird…except the new outfit lol) make this yet another superb video!!!

  • Sep. 21, 2012 at 10:48 am

I think a slug to the side of the head is a pretty good KO move.

  • Sep. 21, 2012 at 10:03 am

Wow, really like this new video, and the villain is my favorite thus far. Didn’t like the ending, I prefer a KO move(bear hug, or just a beatdown) to end a fight. But still this was an awesome video. Heroine sold well and looked to be in genuine danger despite her formidable combat skills and the villain was built as being very threatening. This could be my favorite video of FSS. With heroines like Lady Victory and Shadowstar I’ll be watching for a long time.

  • Sep. 20, 2012 at 1:08 pm

Ahh the gloves… well Shadowstar was very hot that day so went without. Luckily her opponent found a way to cool her down!

  • Sep. 20, 2012 at 12:13 pm

Beautiful. Can’t wait. Did she lose the gloves, or was it just a stylistic decision?

  • Sep. 20, 2012 at 2:26 am

Yeah it looks like she’s in for a rough ride alright. Do I spy a KO in one of those caps? I think Shadowstar could be the hottest heroine in NGC’s lineup, she is simply stunning.

  • Sep. 19, 2012 at 10:22 pm

    Oh boy, can’t wait.
It looks like we the fans of the lopsided beat-down may finally get our wish. A beat-down the likes of which we haven’t seen since episode 2, season 1.

    Really looking forward to this.

  • Sep. 19, 2012 at 6:24 pm

Shadowstar looking hot and the villain is pretty big and menacing. Looks good thus far, can’t wait for release!

  • Sep. 18, 2012 at 5:20 pm

Hopefully he is pretty big since Shadowstar is pretty tall herself.

  • Sep. 18, 2012 at 1:17 pm

omg she is so gorgeous *_*

ps. Male or female opponent ?

  • Sep. 18, 2012 at 1:13 pm

TOTAL HOTNESS. What a seriously gorgeous lady, I cannot wait to see her fight again.

  • Sep. 18, 2012 at 11:47 am

Wow, Shadowstar looks great! I wouldn’t mind if every video had Lady Victory and/or Shadowstar in it haha.

  • Sep. 10, 2012 at 8:38 am

As usual I bought the episode without even watching the trailer and as soon as I go the email. I really enjoyed this video.

I particularly liked the first knock out of Lady Victory. Love those unnecessary extra knees to the face after Lady Victory was already floored. I thought the KO Queen was an excellent character. She’s obviously not the fighter that Sleeper is but she makes up whatever she lacks with a flagrant disregard for fighting fair. I like that she’s a scrapper and will do anything to keep her perfect record unbroken. I also liked that she punished Lady Victory even after having knocked her out the first time. I was hoping she was going to do more of that the second time she knocked out Lady Victory. You know, throw in a few stomps or some extra punches for bad measure.

I also appreciate the blood and the bruising. I know that’s not everyone’s “thing”, but I thought it really added to this video.

Lastly, can I just say that Dominika Van Stanten can really sell the “oh, I’m hurting face.” To say she’s gorgeous is obvious. But she is also really good at expression of being in pain. Her facial expressions while losing are second to none. I would love to see more of her on the receiving end of a one-sided-beatdown.

Of course, I too would love to see a totally dominant villain(ess), who destroys heroines both mentally and physically. As you know, I never root for the heroine.

Over all, this is a really solid episode. I enjoyed it. It is totally worth the asking price. Thanks for letting the bad girl win. I’m already looking forward to your next effort

  • Sep. 10, 2012 at 5:05 am

Yeah 2 weeks we hope, lots and lots of special effects to do but hopefully that won’t hold it up.

  • Sep. 10, 2012 at 5:04 am

Keeping the discussion to the nature of the “Evil Villain(ess)”; I feel strongly that whether the baddie is physically imposing or not, is less important that the conviction that they can damage our heroine. Note “damage” not “kill”. Any idiot with an RPG could do that.
DC’s Bane is both physically dominant and psychologically frightening because he can soak up whatever is dished out and keeps coming back with heavy and damaging blows.
NGC’s villains, of both sexes, largely succeed as characters because they have the ability to scare the heroines and thereby us, by again soaking up everything and coming back harder.
The cast have been well chosen for their ability to convince us that height or physical mismatches nothwithstanding, they can clean the floor with a superheroine and not care about their own injuries.
Would I like to see a villainess built like the proverbial outhouse, totally destroying one (or more) of your heroines? Of course. But as you say above, if they can’t act or stage fight, then they won’t have the skills to convince us.
Thank you for coming up trumps on this one. Keep fighting the good fight (pun intended) and I’ll keep supporting you.

  • Sep. 10, 2012 at 12:38 am

I too am very open to the idea of using the same actress. I love all the NGC villains so anyone used would be a plus for me. I really like how the actress that played KO Queen was really eager to be dishing out the punishment instead of taking it. She sounds like a keeper to me! lol. U should let her next time. The Queen’s performance was very underwhelming if you ask me, she was getting her ass handed to her pretty much until she had to cheat. I expected more from her. I cannot wait for Shadowstar, 2 weeks?

  • Sep. 9, 2012 at 8:35 pm

@George: That would be great. Imagine how humiliating it would be for the 2 proud heroines to get beat down by a single adversary. Maybe throw in some taunting from the villainess about how they’re so weak and that’s why we won and are in charge now…or something like that.

  • Sep. 9, 2012 at 7:46 pm

    @George – Indeed, better find one hadn’t I?

@ceej – Good I’m pleased people seem to be open to the idea. It will make things better I think and would not be so frequent as to be a distraction.

@Beast – I’m pleased, it was edited with that sense of really feeling the hits in mind. As for the upcoming Shadowstar film… well, it’s still being edited as there is so much to do, and I will only get to see it in full myself a matter of hours before I make it available to members, what I will say having been at the shoot is that if it’s not the best thing we’ve ever shot then it’s damn close, some amazing moments.

  • Sep. 9, 2012 at 6:59 pm

I love it! pretty brutal. Lady Victory is beutiful and also a great actress. I can feel every punch.
I can not wait for the shadow star episode, she is my favourite.

  • Sep. 9, 2012 at 5:21 pm

@NGC, I’d have no complaints with actors/actresses crossing over in the two worlds, if it’ll make for a better product, then go with it.

  • Sep. 9, 2012 at 4:57 pm

the 6ft muscular female villain sounds good to me! Maybe she could fight both shadowstar and lady victory

  • Sep. 9, 2012 at 4:26 pm

@valugi – Plans for Lady Victory? Well I’d like to keep using her but we’ve nothing else filmed so far and have a couple more characters to introduce.

@Mark – Well I was thinking more about villains, I think swapping heroines from one series to the other really would be too confusing, I don’t really plan that.

@krispin – ok I will keep looking for the perfect bad girl.

  • Sep. 9, 2012 at 3:17 pm

I love that, Dominika is wonderful and she is a perfect heroine going to a beating. I too am with more larger bad girls. Not taller, that’s not important for me, but heavier and more rounded if it’s possible. But I do love your work.

  • Sep. 9, 2012 at 10:57 am

@NGC – I personally wouldn’t have any problems with that for any characters if I’m honest. To me in fact it would allow for an increase in the use of the cream of the talent, exposing them to roles / angles (and excitingly, different outfits) that doesn’t fit with their current story arc (an evil Bluebird kicking the snot out imagine of Shadowstar, or Ms. Freedom receiving a brutal and fatal beat). So a big YES from me!

  • Sep. 9, 2012 at 10:47 am

congratulations for your hard work, this video was very good, all the camera effects and the choreography was perfect. Lady victory and one of the heroines I like the NGC series and would like to see more in the future. the K.O Queen this very well too

you already have some planning for lady victory in the future?

  • Sep. 9, 2012 at 9:16 am

@Mark – Yes, well Jade is such a good actress I feel I can count on her for anything.

@Lake – I’m pleased you enjoyed this one, Lady Victory seems pretty popular and that is pleasing, I wanted to work a bit more attrition into the fights as well.

@kingles – Thanks, I was really pleased with what she did, she understood what I needed to see without too much direction, and she loved being an aggressive baddie.

@ceej – Thanks that’s a great comment, we are trying to at least make the villains look interesting. The nature of FSS allows us to be even more outlandish in this direction I think, and while we can’t spend as much on villain costumes as heroines we are trying to give them something, the guy who fights Shadowstar next looks totally bonkers!

@Chris – I’m in total agreement with you, if I can get someone for that role who ticks our boxes I will.

More generally I wondered how people felt about allowing (infrequently) for an NGC villain to take part as an FSS villain in a different role? We wouldn’t do it often but I think if I found someone perfect, say a female who was 6ft tall and muscular, I would be doubtful of finding another one. Would it be too confusing?

  • Sep. 9, 2012 at 8:59 am

“The trouble is, you can invite people to audition based on height and build but if their stage combat skills are poor then the film will be too, I’ll keep looking though I can promise you that.”

Yes, I see how that can be a trouble. I definitely would not want to sacrifice acting and stage combat ability for the size and look. I think Eliza Rose is kind of the jackpot, she’s a great actress and great in combat scenes plus towers over the other girls. But I wouldn’t mind a girl around her same height but more heavy.

“Do you think it’s primarily a height issue?”

Height and bulk in general. In real life, it seems to always be the fantasy of the really big girl in high school to want to beat up the pretty, popular, and athletic cheerleaders. So throwing in a tall and heavy girl to knock around the heroine always has that kind of feel to it.

  • Sep. 9, 2012 at 6:50 am

Nice brutal fight, I really enjoyed it. I’d like to make an overall comment on the FSS series, I really think you guys did a good job on the villains attire. All 3 have had this kind of dirty, grimy look about them, it creates a great contrast with the outfits of Shadowstar and Lady Victory and somehow makes them seem more heroic in comparison.

  • Sep. 9, 2012 at 6:28 am

I think an ounce of psychosis is worth a pound of looking big and intimidating when it comes to making a villain or villainess menacing. KO Queen was awesome! After the 2nd KO(the one that’s ‘disqualified’), She gives Lady Victory a knee to the stomach and a shove backwards. Then with a look that I can only describe as positively INSANE, she stalks toward Lady Victory…and I just knew she was going to do something crazy(and cool). I wasn’t disappointed.

  • Sep. 9, 2012 at 6:14 am

From thre trailers I’ve watched and the episodes I’ve purchased this was the best for me, mainly because of the fight choreography and the use of more head punches than usual. I also really like Lady Victory for her outfit, acting, looks and fighting skills. Yes, more of this type of movie would be most welcome.

  • Sep. 9, 2012 at 5:11 am

@NGC – Well, Ithink you should let her do that on Shadowstar sometime!

Without looking like I’m hijacking the thread, can I just add that power / menace and size are sometimes just a perception – look at Roy Keane. Amazing how people always thought he was taller just by his actions! And look how effectively Jade in Episode 6 conveyed this (even though much shorter than our heroines). Attitude, plus clever use of camera angles (like when she ‘towers’ over Celestia on the floor after the chop on Miss Freedom…which left me with one of the best NGC shots EVER by the way) made her look a monster!

  • Sep. 9, 2012 at 4:53 am

Yes, if I found the perfect big and powerful female she wouldn’t then be in every film but it’s just a nice thing to do from time to time. The KO Queen did a great job for us and what was quite hilarious at the filming was how angry she was about the parts where she was getting beat up! She basically wanted to be the one dishing it out all the time, ’twas funny.

  • Sep. 9, 2012 at 4:49 am

For me personally, it’s like the combat element, it’s about variety, and that’s what I like about NGC. That, and as you say, delivering on quality (no point in having a villian based purely on size / build if they can’t fight, or more importantly, act). In my eyes, it’s like pro wrestling – you can still have brutal and convincing bad guys without them being huge monsters. It would be boring if they were all the same. That way too, it means that you have to make the characters more different, along with move sets. If they can’t overpower a heroine like a Sebastian Luna can, then they may be more technical, use weapons / traps, or cheat / use ‘short – cuts’. As long as it’s acted well, that delivers variety, and that gives scope for increased interest and longevity.

  • Sep. 9, 2012 at 4:16 am

Some interesting and good comments here, so thanks for that. I have a fair amount to say about imposing villains, particularly females. Firstly, I would love to use that type of character far more often but they are quite hard to come by and the reason might be in part due to our heroines. For the most part we choose statuesque girls to play the main roles and certainly in Lady Victory’s case. She stands at least 5 foot 8, and when put in the boots she wears is hovering in the 5’10 – 5’11 area, so at that stage it’s kind of tricky to even find a villain who can look her in the eye, let alone be imposing.

I think we delivered on that score with Eliza Rose to an extent who is several inches taller than the people she fought but I would certainly like to find at least one other person like that. The trouble is, you can invite people to audition based on height and build but if their stage combat skills are poor then the film will be too, I’ll keep looking though I can promise you that.

Do you think it’s primarily a height issue?

  • Sep. 9, 2012 at 4:09 am

Apologies for the further comment but after posting, I felt that my use of the word ‘great’ wasn’t appropriate, and that it should be replaced by ‘superb’! Seriously, just based upon the quality of the camera angles and cuts (something that has been the case for the previous two releases as well), that’s much more fitting!

This does truly seem to be a NGC ‘purple patch’ and long may it continue!

  • Sep. 9, 2012 at 4:02 am

Speaking as someone who’s always banging on about seeing a purely fight based video (as opposed to powers and stuff), this was obviously an instant buy for me. And, for the most part, I was very impressed.

I’ll get the little nitpicks out of the way first; The action was a little bit stop/start, due to the nature of the (basic) storyline. No problem with the multiple KO’s, but the dialogue between LV and the ‘powers that be’ did break things up a little too much. And, for such an otherwise brutal fight, the end was a little disappointing. Without giving away who wins, I’d have liked to see her unleash a huge onslaught of kicks and punches on her opponent, rather than the manner in which it did finish. And on a purely personal note I’ve never been a fan of double KO’s (which I should point out, ISN’T how the match ends!)

Also, I’m not usually fussed about outfits/costumes to a huge degree, but I would have preferred to see KO Queen barefoot. Not from an especially foot-fetish basis, but simply that her outfit was reminscent of your typical pitfighter/kickboxer type character, and as a result the boots looked a bit ‘clunky’ as part of that look.

On the positive side, the action was very impressive. Both women played their roles well, and I liked the juxtaposition of the supposed good girl essentially being the bad girl, at least in terms of her attitude – particularly as Dominika plays cocky, aloof and arrogant so very well. So much so that I imagine most people here were rooting for the bad girl… more so than usual, even!

And although, as I’ve mentioned, the end wasn’t perhaps as ‘epic’ as I might have hoped for, there is a definitive winner and that’s always a good thing.

Definitely my favourite NGC release to date, from any of their series. 8/10

  • Sep. 9, 2012 at 3:42 am

Another great release from the guys and girls at NGC; as several people have stated recently, they’re on a roll at the moment. All the elements are there – great actresses, a gorgeous heroine who can sell, fast paced, technical and at times downright brutal combat, great use of slow motion, great camera work; in short, another winner! And that’s before we get onto the photo set, the Shadowstar teasers and price!

And whilst I also like to see large and imposing villians, I really liked the KO Queen character. It’s obvious the youg lady can fight, and I loved how brutal the moves NGC scripted for her. Going along that line and the use of blood \ bruising, maybe that could be extend in the future to things like red lines down the eyes following the nail rake? Not sure if that would be a bit excessive, but just a thought.

Looking forward more and more just recently to what NGC have in store for us!

  • Sep. 9, 2012 at 2:12 am

I second your opinion on “big scary” women to face off the heroines. I for one, love the contrast between them and the lovely looking heroines. makes it that much more exciting when the beatdown happens.

  • Sep. 8, 2012 at 7:12 pm

Lady Victory keeps me buying NGC vids. As usual great production and fantastic fight choreography and topped with in my opinion the hottest actress in the genre currently.

Like I said before, I wish the KO Queen was a bigger and more menacing figure. She’s an average sized woman, she only looks somewhat big and menacing because almost every woman on Earth would look brutish looking next to Lady Victory. Can’t we get like a 6 foot tall, big fat scary ugly looking woman as the villain like in Swift Moves? Or a huge dude, like leadfoot.

I still give this video 9/10, because of Lady Victory, her great selling and acting, and the usual great production/fight from NGC.
