Heroine Legends has just released Episode 1 of its anticipated Heroine Academy series. I’ve watched it a few times now, and please don’t take this as a negative commentary on the film, but I’m not entirely sure what to make of what I watched. Let me explain…
The episode opens up with a major babe talking to a scientist. They have a short conversation, and the next thing you know, she’s in a fight for her life. Things happen quickly and without much explanation, which isn’t abnormal for the films Heroine Legends produces. They generally reveal plot points very slowly, and, as a fan of heroine movies with storylines, I like their style.
However, almost nothing is revealed plot wise in this episode. We don’t find out anything about the academy or the characters involved. We don’t know who runs it or what it’s exact purpose is. The main character in this episode didn’t display any powers, so are they just taking regular girls and training them to fight, or are any of them imbued with powers from an aura? I think it would be a wise move to answer some of these questions if for no other reason than it’s difficult to invest in characters you know nothing about.
The action parts of the film are good, and the fight is back and forth until the end where the girls opponent takes command. She is punched in the stomach several times, strangled, and has her back wrenched from behind when her opponent pulls her arms. The fight ends with the heroine defeated when she is knocked out by a knee lift to the face.
I imagine many viewers are going to notice that there are some similarities between the first Heroine Academy episode and the Training Room series from Next Global Crisis. They’re both proving grounds for inexperienced heroines. They both take place in a room with brick walls and the heroines first opponent bears a strong resemblance to the drones that caused so many problems for the heroines in the Training Room. Again, there just wasn’t quite enough information given to see how the Heroine Academy is going to be different. Perhaps Logan can go into some detail on that?
If you’re not much into character development and you just want to see a great looking babe in peril, this is a good choice for you. I thought it was a solid first effort for a new series and I’m looking forward to see how the approach this story.
