For having waited so long between RD film releases and for how great the trailer looks, I wonder two things: why a PG rating and why only $5.99?

@SlawDiesel – I’m not 100% sure (you’d have to ask RingDivas / Red Vakyrie for the real answers), but my guesses are:

    • It’s not really rated anything, and the “Rated PG” logo is just to make it look more “movie-like.” (I doubt the MPAA had a screening of this film to determine its rating.)

    • I suspect that the $5.99 price is because this film is aimed at a much broader audience and has a different release strategy than previous RingDivas releases. (For example, this is not even available for purchase at If that’s the case, maybe they figure they can sell many, many more downloads at a reduced price compared to their normal stuff (which is aimed at a much narrower customer base and requires a higher price to recoup costs). Again, just a guess on my part…

This film is extraordinary. I’ve been a fan of the Ring Divas stuff, loved Jenna Hex and Akiren. With Akiren, it became apparent they were moving in a direction away from fetish film making (though that element was clearly present) toward establishing themselves as a “proper” film production company. This is an actual film! By which I mean it’s over an hour long, has a definite plot and story arc, developed characters and would not look out of place on the Syfy channel (indeed it looks better then most of their stuff). I cannot recommend it highly enough, especially at that price.

I bought it! STill to watch though, but the trailer sold it for me though. And the price! And no DRM 😀

Thanks HM! Have you had a chance to watch the film yet? If so when can we expect a review? How long is the scene where Cali is tied to the tree?

  • Mar. 12, 2012 at 5:44 pm

@SlawDiesel Cali is tied to the tree for about three minutes. The scene is brief but good.

For only 6 dollars who could resist? Looking forward to seeing this…

I personally am gob smacked at the low price of this film given the supreme quality of the production. I truly hope this release strategy works out for all involved.

  • Mar. 12, 2012 at 6:46 pm

Are there an KO elements in the film? Just curious before I purchase – thanks!

  • Mar. 12, 2012 at 7:00 pm

Yes there are a few KOs in the film that are cool.

In addition to the film they included a couple of features on their Youtube channel:

    Special interviews:

    Red Carpet:

The film is actually pretty cool and like some had said, for that price you pretty much get a very good film with great quality, really looking forward to any other movies they produce.

  • Mar. 12, 2012 at 7:20 pm

Yes there are KO elements!!! You would not be disapointed… I bought it and it was very good.

  • Mar. 12, 2012 at 7:45 pm

Weird. This is higher quality stuff than most of their normal wrestling videos. Way higher. And yet way cheaper.

  • Mar. 12, 2012 at 9:10 pm

One element that I found disappointing, surprisingly, was the fighting. I thought it was a bit lackluster.

  • Mar. 12, 2012 at 10:52 pm

Well I think for them it was more about getting a story than going down to the fighting.

The action scenes are cool actually but maybe not what some of us are used to in the previous films, which is good going into story telling but, different from the fighting stand point.

I buy plenty of RD videos but would love to see them do something more hardcore one of these days.

I’ll wait for the review. Even at less than a fiver, it’d still be a waste of money buying it if it turned out to be a bit meh. And the trailer didn’t overly inspire me. What action there was looked very underwhelming and whilst it’s a bold move to try and create something that could be considered a legitimate movie, I think always wise for a producer to play to their strengths… Of which the acting (in the trailer, at least) is clearly not one of them.

Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t completely awful, and no-one’s expecting academy performances here. But if the onus is more on the acting and writing and less on the action, it just seems like they might have focused their priorities in the wrong area.

I really don’t understand why they push this Cali girl so far. She doesn’t hold a candle next to Destiny and others they’ve had in the past.

  • Mar. 13, 2012 at 10:03 am

Cali’s great, she’s easily the hottest girl on their roster. Destiny has too much bone.

As for the movie, I think they definitely need more action for a 1 hour movie. It went really slow.

  • Mar. 13, 2012 at 10:40 am

it was a ok film for the price i just felt it needed cali in peril alot more of the film, needed to take more of a beating:)

  • Mar. 13, 2012 at 12:08 pm

For each his or her own I guess, all the girls are hot but in my view Destiny is the hottest out there and Cali comes a close second, Madison too.

  • Mar. 13, 2012 at 3:12 pm

I thought the movie was enjoyable. The women are beautiful. The acting passes muster. The plot and story line mostly work. The film achieves a bond with its viewers. The fight scenes are above average. The dialogue is good. I would agree the film is worth the price of the download and then some.

The story line has its weak points. Nothing that wrecks the film but they are there.

The biggest problem is the climatic fight scene at the end. We have our noble trible of Amazons armed with ancient Spartan “300” weapons (look at the shields) going up against modern day soldiers who have guns and the same swords. Hey everyone has got to live within budget. The fights starts and modern day soldiers drop guns and fight only with swords. Just doesn’t make sense. The sword play is good but seriously who fights with a sword when you have automatic and semiautomatic guns? To paraphrase an old rhyme

“Courage the Africans have got. But we have the maxim gun and they have not.”

Or it went something like that. If any has the original poem, don’t hesitate to dish me and post it. If you like Amazons in bikini’s, less advanced cultures of nature defeating souless solideirs of technology, the old theme of love triumphs over all and don’t mind no nudity or sex, you will like this film.

@Syn – It may be a couple of days before I can post an actual review, so I’ll just leave a few comments here.

Ultimately, I have to say that I don’t like this movie all that much. I mean, visually, it’s amazing—the best I’ve ever seen in this genre in terms of production values in just about every way. But aside from that, I don’t think it delivers the goods. As a fetish movie, there really isn’t much substance, and as a “mainstream” adventure film (with elements of Avatar, Quentin Tarantino, J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek, and other films), I don’t think it works, either, because the acting isn’t very good and and the writing/direction isn’t good enough to sustain my interest. Because the movie looks and sounds like a mainstream production, it invites comparisons to other mainstream action/adventure films, and I think that’s to the detriment of this film.

On the other hand… it’s $5.99. So it’s probably worth it anyway. Just my opinion! I hope to have a full review in the near future.

That RED camera alone costs more than the entire operating budget for EVERY FILM COMBINED by most producers here.

7 week shooting schedule? I could easily film 20 Stormy Tempest’s in 7 weeks!

A cast and crew of over 3 dozen? Incredible! Luxurious!

40 Amazon costumes? You could create costumes for just about every heroine you can think of!

I thought this was visually awesome and definitely on a whole different production level and it’s certainly worth checking out at that price. I’m insanely jealous… but I can’t help but imagine what else they might have accomplished with the same resources spent differently.

Red Valkyrie is either so well-funded that they do not need your insignificant $6…. or they are in desperate need of it to recoup their budget. I hope this works out for them so they can try it again. The quality is definitely there… but the content could be better.

All I’ve seen on this looks visually great-the girls hot as always and the skimpy costumes. But I couldnt pull the trigger on it because it looked like it was missing what I’ve always loved about ringdivas movies: when they put hot athletic chicks in peril. This could’ve been a gold mine if at least one of those girls was in the TROD at some point in those skimpy costumes. Cali wont escape the TROD for long…;>

I was greatly disappointed by this movie.

The girls are gorgeous, the quality of the filming is top notch, and the production values the best I’ve ever seen in a movie of this genre.

All of which does nothing but make me more pissed because the most important element… THE ACTION… was so severely lacking.

It’s not even a matter that what action there is was bad. On the contrary, it was rather good. But there was so very little of it. I haven’t made a precise count yet, but I would estimate that from the 01 hour 11 minutes run-time of this movie, the action takes up no more than 15 minutes. And that includes the ridiculous sword battle at the end. I would estimate that more than half of the running time of the movie is taken up by montages and long lingering shots of the girls doing nothing, or walking or sleeping, etc. (If you liked the running in slow motion from Baywatch, you will like this)

There is grand total of 2 actual fights… A very good mixed fight of one girl against 3 guys, and one F/F fight in the second half. (I’m not counting the sword battle at the end)

When I bought this I was surprised at getting such a long movie for such a good price. Now I know that it’s because it’s mostly filler.

On that note, I would still recommend buying it, since the price of $ 5.99 is actually a very good one for the amount of action shown, and as I said, the girls are really, really hot. Just don’t expect an hour worth of action, because this is not it. And be ready to push the fast forward button. A lot.

Please, remake this movie with nudity. Let the amazon girls be topless by default and go fully nude often for well lit, explicit scenes. I don’t care about sex but explicit nudity is a must in this kind of movie imho.
Seriously guys, a PG-rated sexploitation flick just doesn’t work well. I only watched it till the end cuz of the gorgeous leading lady. After that instantly deleted it, it’s just not worth watching a second time. Just my 2 cents.
P.S. I really like amazon movies and really hope for a sexier version of this one:)

Yeah its very unfortunate that Ring Divas has someone as talented and gorgeous as Cali GI Danger but don’t even know what to do with her.
