Next Global Crisis – Season 2, Episode 3

Apparently, there is no shortage of beautiful and talented actresses with perfect bodies in England because Next Global Crisis has just cast two new ones that fit that description perfectly. Welcome to the official review of Season 2, Episode 3 from Next Global Crisis.

[Warning: Possible spoilers below!]  In the opening teaser we get a quick reminder of the showdown that took place at the end of Season 1 between Ms. Freedom and John Roman. We are also reminded that Red Mist operatives have access to a pill that greatly enhances the user’s strength.

Through a voice-over by James Roman, we are introduced to Erica Lynn, who in her brief tenure as a member of Elite Force was called The Deceptress. Alongside being gifted with incredible speed and acute senses, Erica has the ability to create an unknown number of duplicates. Upon hearing what happened to her former colleague Powerstar, Erica seeks out Red Mist to assist them in their efforts. Remember, to the general public, Red Mist is now considered the “police” of the world and it’s not universally known that their motives are less than altruistic.

James arranges a trap for Erica by sending her to a location where a Red Mist operative named Alexa Topaz is waiting. Under the belief that she is there to receive orders for her first mission, Erica turns her back to Alexa who aims a gun at her. Sensing the danger, Erica uses her speed and disarms Alexa who has no superhuman powers of her own.

Erica dominates much of the fight as she learns that James Roman set the entire meeting up. Apparently James isn’t too enamored with beings that have naturally occurring super powers and has an unrevealed plan to eliminate them. Alexa receives some assistance when one of the goons outfitted in gray from the first two episodes of this season arrives. He hands Alexa a strength enhancing pill and the fight resumes.

Erica is tasered and takes a punch to the stomach before her backup arrives. Herself. In a tremendous use of split screen work we see Erica’s power to duplicate herself in action. We now have a f/f and a mixed fight on our hands. Both the fights flow nicely and the producers made a good editing decision where they cut back and forth between scenes of the heroine being strangled and the heroine doing the strangling. I don’t know if it was a conscious decision but there is a ton of choke holds in this episode, so if you enjoy those kind of scenes, you should like this movie.

This film features a good mix of action, solid fight choreography, strong storytelling, and a dash of peril. The entire cast deserves credit for the work they did, but if I had to guess what character fans are going to gravitate to the most, it would be Erica. She is absolutely stunning. In my opinion, stunning enough to put her on the same level as my personal holy trinity of Angel, Bluebird, and Suki Deluxe. She is also a very talented actress and someone I hope to see more of soon.

Next Global Crisis just continues to deliver incredibly entertaining films. Episode 3 is no exception, and I am already greatly anticipating Episode 4. Everything NGC does just works, and they’ve really raised the bar for quality in the superheroine genre.

Thats it. Can we just have Suki in every episode?

  • Apr. 2, 2012 at 6:33 pm

The first side mission will star Angel. But Episode 4 is first, although I will be giving away some Angel stills from the side mission to a number of Episode 4 buyers.

  • Apr. 2, 2012 at 2:20 pm

So whose starring in the first Side Mission installment? I’m looking forward to that format since it allows for more ko’s and peril than your average episode.

  • Apr. 2, 2012 at 1:05 am

Holy crap, Suki looks hot as hell. Loving the new costume! When can we expect this?

  • Mar. 28, 2012 at 2:12 pm

More or less. We’re 9 days from the list release of Episode 4, and we’ll be putting up a few stills and caps for that over the next few days.

I then plan a 3 week gap to our first side mission, so a list release of 27th of April, then the gaps will largely be 2 weeks between videos. It will sometimes be 3 weeks for an Episode release because they take longer to edit properly and require more of a showcase on the site. But never fear! We will be adding content in the weeks between video releases including ultra-high resolution stills packages and we shall also start getting more artwork done, so you should need to check the site far more often for new things.

  • Mar. 28, 2012 at 1:57 pm

So when will those side mission films start coming out? I remember you said something about after Episode 4 going into a bi-weekly sort of schedule where one week you would release an Episode and then two weeks later release a side film. Is that still on tap?

  • Mar. 24, 2012 at 4:38 pm

In Angels’ Bio, photo 10 of 25. I don’t recall seeing her in that white outfit. Which episode was it in in Season 1? I got some of them, but not all.

  • Mar. 24, 2012 at 4:20 pm

Yeah, we will be bringing out some stills and caps before the release to give you a taster, not too long to wait for those.

Angel’s new film has been shot, the plan is to send taster shots of her new costume and some of the action to a select number of people who get Episode 4 early. Those shots will NEVER be made available again, even post release of the video… not by me anyway. We are delighted with the new costume, all of these things are subjective but in my opinion it’s easily the best ‘Superheroine’ style costume she has worn for us, and as good as anything on our roster… for now.

  • Mar. 24, 2012 at 3:46 pm

Awesome. Looking forward to some stills or screencaps? Whats the status on Ange’ls stand-alone film? Very curious to see her in a new outfit.

  • Mar. 23, 2012 at 8:40 pm

Well Suki has a score to settle with Seb, no question about that, but is revenge really the sort of thing a superheroine should be partaking in?

I can say truthfully hand on heart that this may be our finest hour so far. There is still a fair bit of editing to do, but everything really clicked for me in the writing, filming and editing so far, I am really looking forward to seeing the finished product for myself.

  • Mar. 23, 2012 at 11:45 am

Yes!! Can’t wait!! This is the one I’ve been looking forward to most since the season two teaser, Suki looked incredible in that brief glimpse. Any hints as to what we can expect?

  • Mar. 22, 2012 at 7:12 pm

Friday 6th of April to list members. Which is free to join of course. And you get 40 minutes of free video, geez, why wouldn’t you?

Suki absolutely kills it in this one, new costume but the same ‘can do’ attitude, along with the wonderful Celestia, I’ve got high hopes for it. Keep an eye on the blog for build up. It was a joy to film as all 3 actors are old favourites now.

  • Mar. 22, 2012 at 6:00 pm

Only two words to say about Episode 4: Suki Deluxe!!!!!!!

I’m with you in wanting to know the release date.

  • Mar. 22, 2012 at 5:01 pm

So whats on deck for Episode 4? And when can we expect it?

  • Mar. 13, 2012 at 3:08 am

    Beware of Spoilers!

The original Erica is the key… duplicates take a share of her energy when in existence but to kill her the original must be destroyed.

  • Mar. 12, 2012 at 7:35 pm

Okay, I know I’ve chimed in a ton on this video, but one more comment and then I promise to go away for a while. I didn’t notice any “stiffness”. I’ve watched this episode like 4 times now. It is one of my favorites. (Next to Season 1 episode 2, of course.)

I actually thought the fight choreography was great. The part where Alexa and Erica are in the hall throwing haymakers at each other is about as fast paced as anything we’ve seen.

I also commend NGC for doing the duplicity thing. I’ve actually done the “twins” in a video bit before. It takes a tremendous amount of forethought and is a pain in the rear to edit. I think NGC handled it flawlessly. Plus this is one of only two times in NGC history (at least to my recollection) we get to see a character die. (Although, as we later find out she’s not really dead.)

I only have one question, which I’m sure will be answered in time, but if 1/3 of Erica is killed does that mean 1/3 of her strength dies?

  • Mar. 12, 2012 at 7:14 pm

Thanks for the response NGC. I am sorry to hear about what happened to Alexa, she did do a fantastic job as well as all of you working there in still putting out a pretty quality video. I did see a little bit of stiffness in the fight compared to your other ones, but it wasn’t enough to keep me from enjoying the video. And yes, I did still think the choreography was pretty stellar. I think Alexa and Erica both did a superb job considering it was their first episode especially considering you never shot with them before.

I really hope you are able to get Angel on board for the finale of this season at least. An Angel vs Suki fight… You can charge extra money, please make it happen!

  • Mar. 12, 2012 at 5:59 pm

Chris – Thanks, good feedback. Perhaps if there is a difference in fight pace and style it’s because we hadn’t shot with either of the main characters before. We had spent time rehearsing a couple of days before the shoot, but even with the chokes it was deceptively intricate choreography. The young lady who plays Alexa actually really hurt her knee very early on but kept going so any stiffness you have perceived might be a result of that. Actors really put themselves on the line for our stuff and though injuries are rare, most can barely move the next day.

JL & Richard – There will be a raft of new characters and costumes over the spring and summer, at the end of which I really hope we’ll have a settled cast for a good while to come. By the time we’ve done say 3 shoots with someone they are part of the family, and Anastasiya certainly is that. I’d shoot with her everyday if I could but unfortunately she is in great demand at her full time job so it’s not always easy to get her, but we will try and use her as much as possible. We’re not using her for an Episode this time but one of the shorter films. I am confident you will like it though.

  • Mar. 12, 2012 at 4:58 pm

@Jobber Lover – Indeed, Anastasiya Breadson is awesomeness personified. I might be wrong about this but I think they are making Angel a brand new costume because NGC said it had been ordered recently. I’m with you that I loved the original one, but perhaps the Season 2 Angel will be even nicer. However, if it turns out to be a burlap guney suit, I’m blaming you (but I’ll probably buy it anyway).

  • Mar. 12, 2012 at 4:52 pm

Haha, new video and half the comments are about Suki or Angel. Miss those two a lot they are incredible! I hope Angel is in episode 5, will she be?

Onto this video, hmmm. Another very good video from NGC though not their best. But after thinking about it, if I had never seen an NGC video before this I’d have no complaints and would have just thought it was totally spectacular. But because the standard NGC have set for themselves with their incredible level of dedication and hard work I do have some things to point out.

I can’t pinpoint what to say wrong about this video but there was something about it. Maybe it was the excessive chokeholds like others are saying? But I think the fight was just a little bit slower than what NGC usually has going. It wasn’t quite as brutal I guess because of that and it was slightly rigid and not very natural looking. Its still very good compared to other producers but I definitely hope they bring their fights up to par with their best work that we’ve seen in the past.

Onto the positives, wow the new actress who played Erica Lynn is beautiful and can act really well! As for Sidekick putting her up there with Suki, Angel, and Bluebird… I might agree but I have to wait for at least one more video with her before I can say something like that. I don’t think she has the raw charisma of Suki or Angel and their ability to really steal me away from reality and believe the perilous story they are telling. She’s obviously a different character. And yes, I do hope we see more of her and will certainly buy any more videos she is put in.

  • Mar. 12, 2012 at 1:52 pm

Let me be clear Anastasyia Breadson would look great in a burlap guney suit! She is my favorite actress in the entire genre. It’s not that I don’t like her new outfit. I just really liked the old one. But hey, I’m willing to give the new outfit a chance. Totally psyched that you are shooting with her again. I’m totally hooked so I can’t wait to see more.

  • Mar. 12, 2012 at 12:13 pm

These are great comments guys, thank you very much. I hope that you realise that we do take all feedback into account to help improve our output, and that if we cannot do something then we say why (unless it’s really obvious). I’m also really pleased that people are enjoying the villains. In understand the point made about them having to take pills to keep up with the heroines, but these are super-heroines after all, and there will be villains soon who do not need the help of supplements.

Jobber Lover – If you don’t like Angel’s new outfit then I think I’ll pack my stuff up and go home, because I will clearly be very out of touch. We’re shooting with her this week.

  • Mar. 12, 2012 at 12:05 pm

Have always enjoyed NGC’s work and the costumes in this one were great. The content didn’t really do it for me though, too much with the choke holds, but I know some people like that and I’m not going to make a big stink about it because NGC offers such a huge variety of content with their releases and really it’s more about the storyline. I prefer more of the 2-sided beatdowns with both heroine and villain getting in their licks, like their first release of Season 2. Still looking forward to anything they come out with though and hoping to see Magenta(with an updated uniform hopefully) in one of their future works.

  • Mar. 12, 2012 at 7:40 am

For me the costumes were spot on. I like my heroines to be fairly believable and NGC’s costumes are generally very convincing, Erica’s being one of the more “high tech” – you could see it was very high quality and fit her like a glove, not some store-bought leotard. Plus the cape looked good and moved really well with some weight. I also loved Alexa’s catsuit, simple but effective with the RM patch, again it looked “official” somehow. If you want more skin, there ARE characters who show off legs and cleavage, but I hope NGC continues to mix it up, it makes them individuals.

  • Mar. 12, 2012 at 7:35 am

I just watched this episode again and I must say “Damned impressive!”

NGC started off at a very high level of quality and they have improved continually since their inception. Take away the fact that their actresses are gorgeous, their costumes are phenomenal and their fight choreography is as good as or better than anyone out there. They also have cool story lines and they push the envelope for creativity. The multiplicity effect in this story is second to none.

One more note on costumes; when I look at my favorite NGC girls: Angel, Suki, and Erica, did I mention Angel? They all have the body suit and they are all my favorites. I have to admit I am anxious to see Angel again, and I’m still holding on to the hope that you keep her original outfit.

Another thing is that (with the possible exception of maybe Tessa in the recent UltraHeroix) Next Global Crisis has the only FEMALE villians I really look forward to seeing. Nina Hellfire and now Alexa Topez are INCREDIBLE! Hot as hell, mean, evil, interesting, they have it all. I love those two evil hotties.

Anyway, I can’t say enough good things about Next Global Crisis. Keep up the good work. Can’t wait for more. And if your taking requests; I’d love to see a “Training-room-like-episode” in which Alexa and Nina double team and destroy Angel.

  • Mar. 11, 2012 at 10:23 pm

I love the episode and im also in love of the new superheroine!
It was great although i think the camara was a little away from the punches this time. I always like to see the close ups when the belly punches appear. But is my personal taste ha. The bad girl was awesome too!
Regarding the costume iam with jobber lover that it maybe will be better if the belt sit lower on her hips
PS: There will be a new trainig room or new section? I want to se see erica in action fast!!!

  • Mar. 11, 2012 at 9:28 pm

One of the things I loved most about Erica was her costume. She rocked it pretty well. I hope it doesnt change. The only thing I would change is the belt, maybe find a more “superhero” looking one, like batgirl’s. but other than that, The new costume designer deserves a pat on the back. As for “scantier”, I wouldnt mind a heroine or two showing off their six pack or some skin. But spandex bodysuits remain my favorite.

Anyways I hope Erica stays for good. She was great and her powers were brilliant. Seriously brilliant. Richard said it best. and Not only do we get to see this beautiful heroine fight once, but twice.. and at the same time. I loved the scene where she gets shocked as shes trying to crawl away too. But I wanted to point out the part where the thug runs out of the room to chase her and he immediately gets blasted back in. That’s why you guys are the best. It was a pretty awesome scene and gave me an “oh shit” moment.

As for Alexa she was a great villainess. Costume was perfect for her as well. I just dislike how every villain we’ve seen so far in season 2 relies on these pills to gain temporary powers. I prefer if they already had superpowers of their own just like the heroines they are trying to destroy. Like Leadfoot, Luner, and The Roman brother. But dont get me wrong it didnt make me enjoy this episode any less. Great job guys.

  • Mar. 11, 2012 at 8:01 pm

The fact that anyone has any negative comments for NGC at all is a testament to how awesome NGC has become. I bought this one the minute I got the email. (as always with NGC) This is as good as any episode anywhere in the genre.

I love Erica’s costume, incredibly hot. I’d let her belt sit lower on her hips, but that’s just me. She’s a knockout. Up ther with Angel, and Suki for sure.

Hey am I the only one that thought Alexa Topaz was incredible? I didn’t think there would ever be a villian I’d like more than Nina Hellfire… Now I’m torn. Alexa, Please come to America, beat the hell out of me and force me to join RED MIST! … Did I just write that?

I’m now dreaming of the episode where Alexa mops the floor with Angel! … Yummy….

Anyway, I’m off topic. GREAT JOB NGC! Another awesome episode.

  • Mar. 11, 2012 at 7:19 pm

I think costumes are always great, I never have problems with them. Maybe in the future some more revealing costumes would be good.

regarding dialogue, i think it helps bring out the peril, it works well in TBFE’s films. Of course im not suggesting long shakespearean soliloques that would be ridicolous, unrealistic and inappropriate.

  • Mar. 11, 2012 at 5:55 pm

Bert – We’ll do what we can with lighting, locations determine this to an extent and I can never be sure of what I can get in terms of location because filming in London is just unbelievably expensive. I guess she might hold out for longer before using her power, it probably boils down to whether or not she feels she is handling them with the added strength of being in single form.

Darklord – The electro/shock sticks have worked well and are actually quite easy to film with, so I’ve no aversion to pulling them out again, but I also would like to think of some other easy to make and film devices to mix it up a bit.

  • Mar. 11, 2012 at 5:45 pm

Yeah way too much choking. Last two episodes while solid have not been as good as previous installments.

Erica is great, I like scantier costumes as well but here’s was still good. My fav scene was towards the end when the electro stick was used on her back and her body writhed and wiggled on the floor. Super hot. In fact all the electro stick moments from each episode have been my fav. More of that please!

  • Mar. 11, 2012 at 5:42 pm

Erica’s costume rocks! It’s true that it doesn’t show much skin, but it’s form fitting and the long cape is great. Just be sure to keep the sets lighter in color so there is some contrast with her dark hair and dark cape. Perhaps next time we could see her struggle a little longer in a double-team situation before she uses her power?

  • Mar. 11, 2012 at 4:36 pm

I just want to go on record as saying that I would prefer if there was somewhere else to watch the trailer other than a facebook page. In order to watch it I have to log in? And then guess what? Facebook makes a post about how i watched the video for all my friends and family to see, without even asking my permission. Sorry if that seems far fetched but similar things have happened to me – facebook has gotten really intrusive lately and I don’t trust it.

  • Mar. 11, 2012 at 4:32 pm

Regarding Erica’s costume, maybe it’s just me being shallow but I like the costumes scantier.

  • Mar. 11, 2012 at 4:13 pm

Bert – I’m really pleased that we managed to convey her power correctly, I was worried that we hadn’t and people might think it was merely duplication. It should be good for a lot of altercations, it’s quite tricky in terms of setting it up to film, it takes a bit longer than if she just fought one-on-one, but I think we can get around that mostly.

Richard – Again, I’m glad it’s been understood. You’ll be pleased to know that Suki is in the can and Angel ought to be this time next week!

What do people think about Erica’s costume? We have used someone new for this and I think the possibilities could be endless, but like to know what people thought of the design.

    Also the Red Mist uniforms…

  • Mar. 11, 2012 at 12:47 pm

I second that, Bert! Erica is incredible and her power is ripe with possibilities. I love how she can easily conquer a single opponent, but a multi-pronged attack could force her to divide and therefore become weaker. That adds an interesting dynamic to any scenario, especially now that Red Mist have access to those strength pills. Great episode and the free video was a lovely surprise too. Can’t WAIT for Suki and Angel!!

  • Mar. 11, 2012 at 11:24 am

@NGC – If at all??? Good lord, she’s fantastic! I’d like to see her several more times this season. Her power, and the fact that her strength halves when she splits, seems like a great device to build stories around.

  • Mar. 11, 2012 at 10:36 am

Dave – Thanks for remembering our thugs! They work very hard too.

Xerxes – I guess each episode has a slightly different balance in all ways, be it chokes to other moves, dialogue to action, but I’m pleased you enjoyed it overall, that’s the main thing and the only thing I can really aim for.

Derek – Thanks those are great comments to hear! It took about 14 hours to film and was pretty exhausting, even for me and I didn’t really do much. I agree about the piracy of course, we would be finished if it spread too much. Luckily there are people who occasionally let me know when our stuff is being ripped off. Hilariously the pirates often have user names in forums that made them very easy to track (in a past life I had a background in investigation) and I actually know the home address of two of them now! If only people remembered that the internet is written in ink.

Now that people have seen Erica and her powers in action, how would you like to see her used in future? If at all…

  • Mar. 11, 2012 at 9:40 am

A really strong release, I loved the splitting effect as you get twice the amount of beautiful Erica (I love the long cape). A+
Bluebird, Suki & Angel are definitely a triangle of awesomeness, I hope we see the other two soon!

@Derek – Totally agree, the guys behind the camera are unsung heroes. The two thugs in grey have done some great fighting with the girls in season 2 so far.

  • Mar. 11, 2012 at 6:33 am

one criticism I have is the Erica actress didnt really say much, there were’nt many lines, its good to have dialogue to bring out the peril. Also there was too much choking for me. Apart from that it was better than the last episode, Alexa was a great actress and villain, you could see how she outperformed Erica in many scenes. She has a future.

  • Mar. 11, 2012 at 5:27 am

Oh yes sir! This is what I want to see more of. Here we get a good script, an intelligent plot and all the basics of a good drama.
I don’t know how long the shoot took, but it has the sheen of Hollywood to it.
My congratulations to all involved, because to just highlight the cast is to do a disservice to those behind the cameras who managed to make this work so well.
To those other producers who think that two people (one usually the camera operator) in a rented motel room make entertainment, I would suggest that they watch NGC movies.
And to those who “pirate” these productions can I just point out that if you keep doing so, then you won’t have anything to watch, because these productions are only possible if people PAY for them. (Sorry for the rant).
Keep up this standard and I will remain a loyal viewer.

  • Mar. 11, 2012 at 3:43 am

Anon – It’s 40 minutes of free video, so when you sign up you get an email with a link to that much video, it doesn’t expire. In fact not only does it not expire, but now and again it increases. So think of it as 40 minutes now and 1000 minutes in the future. The only thing that will expire is how long episode 3 is available at discount. But it still is for now.

Thanks for comments. The fighting in this one does contain a fair amount of choking but there is no specific reason why there might be more here than other films. Certainly it’s a tough return to duty for Erica and one of her duplicates at least!

  • Mar. 10, 2012 at 7:25 pm

Oh sorry I read it wrong! It’s only 40 minutes. But still would it expire 40 minutes after I sign up or not?

  • Mar. 10, 2012 at 7:21 pm

Also what recommended video players do the videos work with? Are they compatible with a Mac?

  • Mar. 10, 2012 at 7:19 pm

    “40 hours of free video”
Like the offer would expire in 40 hours? Or would I get 40 hours OF video free and I can just ration them?

  • Mar. 10, 2012 at 6:21 pm

I enjoyed this episode, though not as much as the first two but Next Global Crisis at their weakest still beat most other producers at their best. I love the outfit on the new heroine, something we haven’t seen before, and the quality of the acting is as always first rate. I would truly love to see NGC insert a torture scene into their peril at some point, but that’s just a personal preference – I really enjoy this series and am looking forward to seeing where it goes. Bravo to all involved.

  • Mar. 10, 2012 at 5:17 pm

I agree that the ko’s should be diversified a bit. Maybe a chloroform or gas ko for the future? Otherwise a pretty solid episode. Not one of my favorites but solid nonetheless.

  • Mar. 10, 2012 at 4:26 pm

Nice movie. A bit one sided on the chokeouts (a KO via punch or gas would add some nice diversity) but a very engaging story with a beautiful lead character

  • Mar. 10, 2012 at 4:15 pm

Nice review. The new heroine is indeed awesome. I liked the story and how the plot for season two was advanced this time out. I also liked Erica’s costume, including the long cape. The fight scenes were great, though perhaps there was too much emphasis on choke holds, almost as if it was a custom video. Still, the new heroine is stunning (best hair in any heroine video?) and the female villain is very effective and menacing. I’m looking forward to seeing Erica Lynn again soon.

Also, I’d like to add Miss Freedom to Sidekick’s picks of Suki, Angel and Bluebird along with the new Erica as my personal faves. Ep. 8 of season one is in my top three of all time favorites for heroine films. The brutal back and forth fight with S.L. was exactly what I love about this genre of movies.
