Season 2, Side Mission 1 from Next Global Crisis

Season 2, Side Mission 1 from Next Global CrisisFan favorite Angel returns (with a brand new costume) in Next Global Crisis’ first Side Mission episode, which sort of resembles the company’s Training Room series only with a more intense fight and higher stakes, in my opinion. How does this episode measure up? Let’s find out…

The episode begins with Angel (Anastasiya Breadson), decked out in a shiny new costume complete with tights (sure to be a point of controversy in the never-ending “tights vs. no tights” debate), ascending a staircase where a bad dude named Snare (Tom Ziebell) awaits her, having just injected a chemical into his neck.

Apparently, Snare is working for Red Mist and has been instructed to fight Angel in a test of loyalty. Snare brandishes a red rope which he uses as a weapon, whereas Angel is unarmed. Unfair if you ask me, and just the way I like it! The fight begins with Angel dodging a few swings of the rope and then moving in for the attack.

Snare gains the advantage by lassoing Angel, delivering punches, and then spinning her to the ground. Snare also seems to have the ability to resist Angel’s superpowers. The fight continues with some back-and-forth action. It’s all pretty well done, nicely choreographed and performed, with a variety of moves (stomach punches, kicks, face slaps, choking, etc.).

There’s even a scene where a weakened Ange has her hands and feet bound with Snare’s rope. In another thread, some viewers expressed some consternation about this since this sequence consists mostly of close-ups of Angel’s bound hands and feet (as opposed to shots of her whole body struggling against the ropes).  I thought this sequence was just fine, but you may want to keep this in mind if it’s an important “fetish” element for you.

I won’t spoil the rest of the episode (there are a couple of surprises towards the end), so I’ll just wrap things up by saying I think this episode is wel worth $9.99 for fans of NGC’s work. I don’t feel it’s quite as intense as Next Global Crisis’ recent episodes (which I think are excellent), but as this is a “side mission,” it’s probably not intended to be.  Much like the Training Room episodes, this series will apparently focus on training missions and exercises (and possibly other kinds of scenarios) that are secondary to the main NGC storyline. The video is just over 11 minutes long, so the price seems like a good deal to me.

great video angel is very sexy

Loved this vid and Angels new costume. I feel like this tights vs no tights debate is a pointless thing to bitch about. Not all of the heroines in the NGC universe wear tights, so I feel this shows variety and doesnt lean toward any one side. In my opinion, these guys costume decisions have been top notch. And who can really look at Angels legs in this vid and think they look bad in those tights? I dont understand it.

Beyond that, this was well worth the money. To be honest, a part of me enjoys these mini vids more than the Episodes. These tend to get right to the point. Dont get me wrong, I love the episodes, but its nice to have little peril films thrown in between.

My only complaint would be the constant use of sleeperholds and choking. Granted, in this vid it was really the only ko method you could use where she would wake up quickly, and you needed her to wake up quick for the vid to end the way it did. I would just like to see a tad more ko variety for future vids. Maybe some chloroform ko’s, or some gas ones.

One more thing: LOVE Bluebirds new duds! Seeing as the next side mission starring her comes out for list members on May 11, I’m already counting the days! Cant wait! Keep up the fantastic work guys.

Just got this, here’s my two cents.

Firstly, Angel looked gorgeous! There’s simply no denying it, this woman was born to play a superheroine. She seems to get hotter with each video, and while I was a fan of her grey catsuit (didn’t care as much for the two-piece she barely wore) I feel this new costume is pretty perfect. The shiny fabric, cut of the leotard and matching gold emblem, belt and trimmings – it all looks highly authentic, and she fills it out so perfectly. My fave part is the cape, the length is ideal and it moves well. Oh, and I’m a fan of shiny tights so the whole ensemble clicked for me, definitely a step forward and I’d love to see other NGC heroines getting the same ‘royal treatment’. Magenta perhaps, in a similar outfit but with hot pink instead of gold?

As for the video, I enjoyed it. The acting was up to standard, and the action with the rope was original and fun. I am a big fan of the heroine getting tangled and looking surprised and helpless, so the bits where the rope tied around her wrist and midriff were delightful. Angel’s shocked expression when she was punching herself in the face was nice, I’d have liked to see more of that. Yes, there was missed opportunity towards the end – I too expected a full body shot of her tied up and struggling, but it never came, alas – so that was a bit strange. But I could find fault with little else. For $10 this delivered fun aplenty, and you can’t please everyone in ten minutes. Just give us a longer, more definitive KO in future (chloroform?) with a wider angle.

A brief thought on Bluebird’s new costume. From the stills I like what I’m seeing but I’ll wait and reserve judgment until I see it in motion. The actress still looks fantastic in it, and although I prefer shinier material, it appears to be a tight fit, so that’s good.

I liked the video but was disappointed by the new Bluebird costume. I thought the old one was great and, for me, bare arms is better. (Two-piece would be better yet.) Still a big fan of NGC, though.

  • Apr. 28, 2012 at 9:21 pm

I liked the new Angel costume a lot, and as far as the video goes, it was pretty nice, liked the final twist at the end, can’t wait for the next episode or side mission.
And as far as the Blue Bird new costume goes, I liked it, seems pretty cool.

  • Apr. 28, 2012 at 11:40 pm

Angel is gorgeous, love the costume. But I found this video rather dull and repetitive. Not your usual ultra choreographed fight scenes and a huge missed opportunity for a full body shot of Angel being choked. So overall I was disappointed, I’m hoping we dont just see these “side mission” videos as knockoffs of the training room ones

  • Apr. 29, 2012 at 12:13 am

Just bought this! (Havn’t got the chance to watch it just yet) but have to say from the pics, loving the costume. Grey catsuit I never thought would be beat for my Angel but this looks pretty nice (I’m also a bit of a sucker for white and gold I prefer bright colors on superheroines as opposed to the “nitty gritty Dark Knight realism” shtick, if I was interested in realism I’d… I don’t know… not read comic books about super powered peoples) no pretty damn perfect xD

Also like the new Bluebird outfit. I agree I wish it were shiny like the last one, this look but shiny would be frigging perfection but I understand if there were some limitations there.

One pic left me kind of worried though, the bruising. I am not a fan of bruising, (or gore for that matter) I hope that’s not something you plan on putting in alot of vids. (just hoping)

Anyways, 😛 another angel vid for me woot!

  • Apr. 29, 2012 at 4:33 am

Haven’t had chance to purchase this yet, and so can only comment on what has been said. For me, the biggest plus has to be bruising. I think that is essential to add realism to peril.

  • Apr. 29, 2012 at 5:48 am

Thank you for this all too brief encounter. I love Angel: both her character and costume are to my taste and her reactions to being defeated are priceless! (She should be getting used to this by now). If I have a criticism of the bondage at all, it is not about how much we get to see, but how effective it would be. I get the “magic” properties of the rope itself, I would just like to have seen something that looked like it would immobilize a superheroine (and that has nothing to do with fetishism – just practicality). But that is a minor worry, overall I really love these stories and look forward to each and every one.

  • Apr. 29, 2012 at 11:56 am

Eh, this video was OK. Big failure on the camera angles and could’ve used better struggling/tying up of angel.

I know it’s basically sacrilege to say anything negative about NGC on here but dare I say their videos are getting stale and the story is just treading water?

Originally I was never a huge fan of NGC bc while their production is top notch and the fights are well choreographed, for me personally, their vids lack any hardcore peril (ie fondling, groping, sex, aoh torture, whippings, etc.). Then came season 1 episode 7, which was a game changer bc it elevated the story to new heights with the deception and out smarting (great form of peril) and set up a compelling destruction of miss freedom.

But since? The story hasn’t really advanced. I feel outside of episodes 7-9, all NGC videos are the same. A hot heroine enters a nice set, and a choreographed fight ensues. That’s not necessarily a bad thing but it has gotten repetitive bc to me every vid is a karate fight. They don’t introduce any new fetish elements and with the story stuck in neutral im not as enthused as I was before

  • Apr. 29, 2012 at 12:05 pm

This may be my favorite episode so far.

I absolutely loved Angel’s first costume, but this new one is much better because, of course, it even better shows off her exceptional body and also because it gives a glamorous effect that nicely supplements her cocky and confident personality.

Her initial arrogance and subsequent surprise when the villain turns the tables on her is extremely well done. To me that really makes the movie. I would have loved to see a full body shot of her tied up, but perhaps that is saved for later? Also, the way it is shot does works very well to activate the viewer’s imagination.

  • Apr. 29, 2012 at 12:12 pm

love this and everything NGC does, but wanted to add my voice to the ‘no tights’ platform. i hate the tights. great vid, though!

  • Apr. 29, 2012 at 12:22 pm

I have to ask: why don’t you like the tights Mell? I don’t see how anyone who is a man and enjoys looking at hot women can look at Angels legs in this film and think they look anything other than incredible. I mean, don’t get me wrong, you’re more than entitled to your opinion. Im just curious why you don’t approve of them?

  • Apr. 29, 2012 at 1:00 pm

Just a few notes on some points that have been mentioned above.

    – I would love to see a variety Kos too like chloroform, gas, darts, etc.

    – Not a fan of brusing either, I mean I can handle a small one, if it helps realism but not really a fan, rather there to not have any.

    – Not fan of groping or any real hardcore elements like sex or stuff like that, If a villain overpasses that line with a superheroine, that absolutely kills it for me, same if the girls are beaten to a bloody pulp, worst if they are killed.

Again, just felt I should to mention it.

  • Apr. 29, 2012 at 2:24 pm

While the video itself was a little underwhelming at least for me, I cant say I was let down. for under 10 bucks I got to see a video starring the beautiful Angel in an amazing new costume AND photos of Bluebird in a sexy new costume as well plus one being a teaser still to what I believe will be the next video. I was never a huge fan of bluebird, I thought she was a little overrated but now with this costume upgrade Im really looking forward to seeing her again. I could go w/out the sleeves but still. the costume is about 100x sexier if u ask me, the tightness of it really shows of her nicely toned body, especially since they got rid of the belt. Best costume change NGC has made so far, LOVED IT.

As for the video(POSSIBLE SPOILERS) I expected a lot more from Snare, he wasnt menacing enough, and somewhat of a chump for Red Mist to even hire. But I guess they werent planning for Angel’s powers to eventually work either.. I liked the fancy rope attacking tricks but it just wasnt enough for me. When i saw the photos of Angel training for this video I was thinking the rope would have some power to it, like electrocution, weakening, or energy draining. Instead of just your basic old rope. I guess you could say I was just looking for more peril, when snare had his rope wrapped around her waist, there was so much he could do there, tossed her into walls, pulled her to him for punches or knees, maybe even got the rope to squeeze her torso. But i understand this wasnt a full epsiode and just a side mission so there is only so much you can do with that. At the end of the day I was happy with my purchase and as usually looking forward to whats next from NGC.

  • Apr. 29, 2012 at 6:03 pm

Thanks for the interesting comments, I will take what I can on board. I know there was a big discussion on tights. It boils down to personal preferences, and I think if the tights mean you cannot buy the video then I doubt you are that into us really. Perhaps you’ll pick something up when you do like what you see, and for that I am very grateful.

I must stress that we’ve done a few higher cut costumes recently and the actresses request tights 9 times out of 10 because the work we ask them to do can involve high kicks, being on the ground, cartwheels even. It’s not simply a case of what makes the film, but they are around a mostly male film crew of about 10 other people all day. Basically, if one of my actresses wants to wear tights then I’m not going to say no.

As for new costumes and people’s opinions on them, well, I completely understand the argument of “if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it.” But a large part of the fun of this project is costume design. If you can say objectively that if I introduced a brand new heroine who wore the new Bluebird costume you would still hate it then I guess I’ve messed up, but I think the main issue is that I’m changing Bluebird’s costume *SPOILER* Bluebird wears both costumes in the next video *SPOILER* As for talk about how the Bluebird costume from Season 2 Episode 1 & 2 differs from the Season 1 version, well the Season 1 version had those slit white stockings, and they got totally destroyed and we couldn’t find new one’s. The arm-bands kept falling off and probably resulted in Bluebird films being shorter and/or harder to film as a result. I decided to cull these issues with a costume I think is very appealing, I hope you can reserve some judgment until you see it in a video as opposed to a still.

Which costumes do you like and why? I’m designing some new stuff soon and would like some ideas.

Every time I try to see a trailer it keeps asking me to sign up. I’ve done this ten times.

What’s the deal? I just wanna see the trailer!

  • Apr. 29, 2012 at 6:31 pm

@Vishtar – Ok, wait a few days and it will be available on the main part of the site.

  • Apr. 29, 2012 at 7:03 pm

Like I’ve said before…love the costume with the shiny tights or pantyhose. This debate is kinda pointless to me, I always had that fetish since the Linda Carter days of Wonder Woman. But the k.o. was not what I was hoping for. I love the peril and struggling, maybe next time there will be a shot of Angels hot bod struggling because how can you not want that. Plus, I’m hoping for a chloro of Angel in this costume with a longer struggling since she is a super hero. You guys made it come true last season…..twice…lets see it again.

  • Apr. 29, 2012 at 7:15 pm

I haven’t purchased much recently simply because of cost so to see NGC return to the short videos is great, at $10 you get so much for your money! As for Angel I liked the grey catsuit but it was just a catsuit, this is a COSTUME and one fit for a superhero of Angels beauty. I though Snare was really fun, other videos I’ve bought can’t even get a punch right but NGC is experimenting with ropes and other weapons.

Like the review said this wasn’t as intense as the last couple episodes but that’s why this is a side mission yes? I paid more to see ‘The Avengers’ and probably enjoyed seeing Angel in peril more so well done!

  • Apr. 29, 2012 at 7:59 pm

    I love Angel.
This episode was fun, and I wouldn’t change a thing about her costume.

My only complaint: WHERE’S THE FULL BODY SHOT OF ANGEL TIED UP?!?!?!?!??!!??!!??!!

  • Apr. 29, 2012 at 11:27 pm

Well me for one liked both, Angel and Blue Bird new customs.

Last Angel’s custom was very sexy, the two piece one, but it like it was made just for modeling, and who can blame you, she is hot, but this one looked like the real deal, the whole thing.

And with out any spoiler on the Blue Bird’s custom. I liked more the new one. The last one was cool, but it was for someone like a Rogue agent or something, this one looked more superheroine like to me

  • Apr. 30, 2012 at 1:20 am

@NGC For costumes I like catsuits. They are sexy and very superheroineish. My favorite you guys created were Erica Lynn’s and Blitz. Erica’s had great detail and I liked the holes on the rib areas of Blitz’s costume, showing some skin. I also like the material of those costumes because they hug the body quite nicely. One thing we havent seen is a two piece costume, Have you thought of making one of those? spandex shorts or pants would work for the bottoms I believe. Id like to hear what designs you are working on for costumes if thats possible.

  • Apr. 30, 2012 at 6:40 am

@Mike – I totally agree with you! I don’t understand how anyone can look at Angel’s legs in this film and find any fault. To each their own I guess, but as NGC have said, the actresses tend to request them so I think we’re safe! =)

@Maar13 – You actually read my mind. I already suggested another chloroform KO but gas and darts are great ideas too – did you see the Training Room where Angel passes out from the heat? I’d love to see that again. Perhaps with Suki or Bluebird? Like you, I am not a fan of blood unless really necessary (i.e. part of the story like in Episode 4) but a little bruising might be OK. Clearly these characters are a lot more tough and resilient than the average human but they’re not invulnerable so the odd  injury makes sense, I just don’t want to be grossed out as it ruins the fantasy for me. Same goes for hardcore peril, NGC appears to respect it’s heroines more than that.

@fabio – Actually an electrocuted rope would be cool, reminds me of the dude from Iron Man 2. Maybe Snare could upgrade his weaponry in future, I still really like his style of fighting though. Yes I’d also like to see a better two-piece, Zen have several great examples. NGC already has several nice leotards (can’t wait to see Athena in her gold one again) so perhaps more catsuits for the heroines. Blitz was great, cute girl and sexy costume, alas I don’t think we’ll be seeing her again. =(

@NGC – As mentioned above, please keep the tights whenever possible (shiny are best) and a two-piece would be great, something like Zen use. I totally understand the reasons for changing Bluebird’s costume, and I think the new one is pretty nice so far, but I will reserve judgment as you say! By the way, you mentioned before the cast for Episode 5. Who will it be and when can we expect it? Thanks!

  • Apr. 30, 2012 at 7:25 am

@Jobber Lover – The upcoming photoset will go some way to resolving your complaint about a full body shot of Angel tied up.

@Fabio – We will continue to use catsuit styles, and we have another 2-piece coming soon that I would be very surprised if people didn’t like.

@Richard – Episode 5 will feature 2 characters as yet unseen, and also Athena and Suki Deluxe! I know Athena was popular in her training room appearance last year, perhaps an occasion where a costume upgrade was universally popular?

    Electric ropes…. hmmm

  • Apr. 30, 2012 at 8:17 am

I recommend whatever Miss Breadson does. She’s lovely, beautiful and really can act. One of my dreams as comic lover is to see her in one of my movies. I’m writing a screenplay thinking about her. I just don’t found yet some studio to produce for me. Anyway, my congratulations to NGC. Another good work! At last, the heroine wins at the end!!!! I also loved the new Angel’s costume. Reminds me the comic books more then the old one.

  • Apr. 30, 2012 at 11:04 am

The camera work needs to be improved in this video the most. They missed a few big peril shots.. one of her getting choked and one of her bound on the floor. And also when she fell down after getting spun, would have loved to have seen her body from Snare’s point of view in addition to the close up of her face.

As for the costume, I prefer no tights, but if Miss Breadson does not want to have her bare legs shown in front of males, I can respect that. Its the price the audience has to pay for talent and beauty like hers. The more talented and beautiful the actress is, the less likely they will be to expose their body. Its a trade off, but in her case I’ll make it no questions asked.

  • Apr. 30, 2012 at 11:31 am

Well I keep asking but nobody seems to want to answer my question.

Why do you no tights people prefer no tights? This isnt an attack; Im just curious. Tights are meant to ENHANCE the appearance of legs, not detract from them. This video is a perfect example. Angel simply looks incredible. Of course, thats just my opinion. So why the tights hate?

  • Apr. 30, 2012 at 11:53 am

^ its obviously a matter of opinion. But I think the bare legs of a beautiful girl with soft and fair skin looks very nice without the tights.

  • Apr. 30, 2012 at 12:32 pm

@mike – i guess when it’s a more clothes/less clothes decision, i just go with less. i’m from florida, so i’m a beach kid, and i just really enjoy natural, bare legs. again, no offense. everybody has their thing. mine is just not to have legs covered up. i’m sure angel’s legs would have looked fantastic without tights.

  • Apr. 30, 2012 at 12:52 pm

Skin isn’t supposed to be a shiny texture. It doesn’t look natural, and it worsens the appearance, IMO. However, a nice pair of nude looking tights, with a satin like texture would be fine, or black tights. It’s definitely a personal opinion/preference though.

I suppose another view to have is that if you are under the impression tights are being used to hide imperfections, then you may be sub-consciously aware that the appearance of the legs is somehow false, and you are been visually tricked.

  • Apr. 30, 2012 at 1:04 pm

Well hey not all the heroines wear tights so I dont see a problem with variety. No need to dissapoint any one group. I can get excited for the Bluebird, Celestia, and Angel vids especially now. I must say I still buy the vids where the heroine isnt wearing as well. Seems like a ludicrous reason to not buy a vid from such a high quality company.

  • Apr. 30, 2012 at 1:31 pm

I wouldn’t mind black tights either.

As for the above poster, I’m pretty sure most people here are buying the videos regardless. What’s ridiculous is complaining about other people’s preferences.

  • Apr. 30, 2012 at 1:58 pm

Jeez, we always fall into this stupid debate over tights or no tights.

I like the tights, some guys don’t. MOVE ON!

Having rewatched the video, I would agree there were some camera work things that could have improved. I prefer more full shots of the action where you can see the entire heroine, I don’t mind the close ups, but if there’s a male villian against Angel do you really even care if he’s in the shot? …

Anyway, the camera work thingie is just a little nitpicky. This was another great video by NGC. It was a nice little side mission. I enjoyed it. I think it was priced about right. I’m going to continue to buy NGC videos sight unseen the second I get the email that they are out. I’m still waiting for Angel to suffer a complete defeat, but that’s probably just me.

Keep up the good work NGC!

  • Apr. 30, 2012 at 2:27 pm

I’m with Jobber Lover – tights/no tights is one of those debates which can never be resolved so why bother with it (says he, chiming in!)? No one studio is going to please 100% of the fans 100% of the time because it’s impossible but thankfully we live in a time where every taste in our little corner of fascination is catered to and you don’t have to look far to find something up your alley.
I enjoyed this film! Cheap, great heroine, interesting and creative peril. NGC are doing great stuff (like anyone needs reminding!) and I’m looking forward to some more Bluebird (tights or no!).

  • Apr. 30, 2012 at 2:36 pm

Actually, its hard to find the right producer. You have people like NGC, KAK, and Zen pictures who create great videos, with beautiful actresses and high quality acting, directing, production, and fight choreography but there is not as much explicit and hardcore content involved… whereas you have the other side of the coin like some producers, who i wont name, where their actresses are willing to shoot more explicit and hardcore content(not wearing tights isn’t as issue) but their production isn’t good, their fight choreography is terrible, the directing and writing are not too good, and their actresses are usually not great looking or very skilled at acting. You certainly don’t find people like Miss Breadson anywhere you look, only with top producers like NGC who have restrictions on how far they will push the envelope if you know what I mean. So its a tradeoff. And I personally will make it for NGC because they are usually awesome and the top of this genre.

  • Apr. 30, 2012 at 3:00 pm

Well, I was planning to leave all my negativity in the previous thread, but since Bluebird’s costume has come up again… :) You’ve answered something I’ve thought on the topic, but don’t think I’ve ever actually said on this board in that if there were practical, logistical reasons for modifying the costume to make filming easier, that was one thing. But from a purely aesthetic standpoint, moving away from the original was not the way to go for me. (And dammit, I still miss the more sash-like belt over the new one. :) )

As for how I would feel about the costume on a different heroine… Judging from that pair of stills, I don’t think my reaction would have been QUITE as strong, but I still wouldn’t be crazy about it. I DO like the cut on the hips, but I’m just not a fan of long sleeves, unless we’re talking catsuits–particularly when you’ve got Claire Yellowlees’ arms. :) Though there are exceptions–Celestia, for example. But I’ll reserve full judgment until I can get a better look at the costume in motion. Stills don’t always do an image its proper justice.

Now, as for Side Mission 1… This might not have been the out-and-out triumph Episodes 1 and 4 of Season 2 were in my book, but it’s certainly on a par with Episode 3. Love the opening sequence. Love THIS new costume. :) Even the camera work that’s come in for some stick in the last two threads I didn’t have any issues with. The only thing I would criticize is Snare. As a character concept, I think there’s a lot of potential. (And when he mentioned going after Bluebird later, needless to say I got VERY interested. I hope nothing’s changed his plans.) BUT… I just don’t think the performance was there. The actor involved didn’t project much menace or threat for me, which is unusual for an NGC production. I mean, even the flunkies in Eps 1-3 did a better job in that department, in my view.

  • Apr. 30, 2012 at 3:26 pm

“Seems like a ludicrous reason to not buy a vid from such a high quality company.”

Again, you are entitled to your opinion. I find it ludicrous you like shiny tights, but what the hey, i’m not going to call you on it, as it’s your opinion. It in no way affects your purchase and enjoyment of the video (or does it?). It’s my money at the end of the day, and if I choose not to spend it, because I don’t like an element of the video, then that’s my choice :) If they gave all the heroines tight trousers, rather than catsuits, I wouldn’t buy it either. A different piece of clothing changes things about a video I like and do not like.

For 9.99 I could buy season 5 of Family Guy I’ve been wanting to see.

ANYWAY! NGC does fantastic work, and there is always something that interests me. I buy quite alot of their stuff, and appreciate the other things that the video offer.

  • Apr. 30, 2012 at 6:10 pm

@AlyAdmirer – Point taken, I love a bit of variety given the option… I take it you’ve seen the ‘Shadowstar’ costume from the Create-A-Character? High cut on the hips, bare shoulders, we’ve just shot with that and well, I’m delighted with how it looked.

  • May. 1, 2012 at 1:23 am

@Richard Yes like Iron Man 2 lol and you just gave me the thought that Snare could use his rope like a whip as well. A powered up rope would definitely be what he needs to be more menacing and a force to be reckoned with.

@NGC I hope the negativity doesnt motivate you to stop making changes where you feel they need to be made, I was bummed about Ange’ls new costume when I 1st saw it but now I really like it. Hopefully that happens with everyone who didnt like bluebird’s after they watch her video. When you’re starting something new I feel it is only right to make new costumes to keep things fresh. Cant wait to hear of this two piece costume you’re working on. As long as its tight, belt-less and doesn’t involve a skirt then I already like it! If not then I will have to wait and see lol

I almost forgot about the Create a character. Any chance of some stills? Man I feel like we ask for too much sometimes lol

Forgive me for over posting but I forgot to mention, As for Blitz, Whats her status? I feel like she never got a chance to really shine and give people the opportunity to give opinions and thoughts since her only training room appearance was shared by several other fighters. Which might be the reason why people havent asked about her. I for one liked her and thought I was going to see more of her until I eventually forgot about her. She had interesting powers that gave her the potential to make a good episode. Only thing I remember disliking was her voice getting creepy when she powered up haha..

I think sometimes we make videos that are instantly pleasing, and others that need a few viewings. Music can be like that for me actually. I don’t know the secret to it to be honest, but this video in my opinion benefits from more viewings. I am glad the costume has grown on you as well, I trust they all will to an extent.

I haven’t got hold of any stills from the Shadowstar shoot yet, but I’ll play around with them a bit when I do and as we get nearer to the release of that video more and more will surface. I was really pleased with the look of the character and the acting, it was one of our most enjoyable shoots ever.

As for Blitz, unfortunately we’ve not been able to work with the actress again. Which is a bit of a shame because I really liked the character, and the idea of the power… perhaps she has a sister? That’s quite lame though. There is a clue about Blitz’ demise in Training Room 18.

@NGC – Athena and Suki in one video?! Sounds like a winner! I’d sort of assumed that Celestia would make an appearance, so I hope we don’t have to wait TOO long to discover her fate. Are either of the two new characters heroines, or both villains? As for Athena’s costume I can’t speak for everyone but I could find no fault with it. The colours and material really suited the actress and the fit was perfect. There’s really no need to alter any part of it in my eyes, perhaps others will disagree. Please show us Shadowstar when you get the chance! Can’t wait. =)

@deathcake – For me personally, tights have nothing to do with hiding imperfections or tricking the viewer. I like them precisely because you can see that the legs are covered, altering their appearance – it is the same reason why I find a good superheroine costume way sexier than a totally nude woman. It’s not about the amount of skin, but how tight and shiny the costume is. It’s the reason catsuits work so well for me, but leotards are great if tights are used because they extend the costume. I understand what you’re saying about liking nude legs, but it’s easy to see nice bare legs anywhere. I watch these videos partly for the hot girls IN the great costumes, and tights are a big part of the costume. But to each his own, as they say! I respect the opposite view. =)

@Fabio – Yeah, that’s presicely what I was thinking of, the way he used the two whips at the same time and fried Iron Man with them. I guess it would be very difficult to make it look believable in these videos but the acting can do a lot of the work for the imagination. I agree he would be far more menacing with something that not only tied and tangled but could also electrocute. It would be easier to KO, interrogate or actually kill an opponent, making him a force to be reckoned with! Shame that Black Widow didn’t go up against that dude in Iron Man 2. Now that would have been worth seeing, as she was barely challenged in that movie. It bears repeating: heroes/heroines are far more interesting and engaging (and sexy) if they are given a real challenge to overcome!

  • May. 1, 2012 at 8:03 pm

@Richard Yea It would be up to the acting to make the shock ropes work, And NGC would probably have to use cgi for the first time, but I wouldnt be surprised if they find another way to pull it off without cgi. If they even decide to go with that. And as for Black Widow, haha seriously, I was hoping she would have to face him as well but I kind of knew it was unlikely. I dont think Ive ever came across a movie like that where a superheroine stays on the loosing end of a fight. Besides probably Daredevil. But that wasnt all that great. Lets cross our fingers and hope she’s really challenged in The Avengers!

  • May. 4, 2012 at 9:36 am

Is there supposed to be a charge for these, and is that the general idea for all these ‘interim releases’ of this format you mentioned?

  • May. 4, 2012 at 9:36 am

Nice. So is Side Mission 2 still coming out next Friday to list members, and will there be preview pics posted next week?

  • May. 4, 2012 at 9:43 am

I don’t suppose the people who bought the video can just receive the video-pack. wishful thinking.

  • May. 4, 2012 at 9:44 am

    the photopack rather.

  • May. 4, 2012 at 9:49 am

@Chris – Not really. We used to give away photopacks with our early releases. But those packs were a lot smaller in terms of numbers of pictures and quality of pictures. I stopped doing that because it created a lot of extra work that nobody seemed all that fussed over. With these photopacks I will gauge the interest again. If people don’t want it then they won’t buy it I guess.

  • May. 11, 2012 at 11:09 am

As there’ll no doubt be a new thread for today’s release, I’ll keep things here brief…two words, in fact – faith restored! Still not a massive fan of the new outfit though, but maybe it’ll grow on me, unlikely as it my seem!

  • May. 11, 2012 at 11:15 am

Downloading now. Have watched the trailer, and man… Costume aside, it looks like you got right inside my head when you were making this one. Cannot wait to watch the full vid. :)

  • May. 11, 2012 at 11:22 am

NGC how do you get so beautifull girls? Shadowstar is amazing. I cant wait to see her in action and i hope that there will be another contest it must be great to see your character coming to live.
    Congratulations for the winner!!!
I didnt see the video of bluebird yet is downloading…ha

  • May. 11, 2012 at 11:53 am

Wow! as a big fan of belly punching this was huge. I think that is the best video i have ever seen. Incredible choreography and performances, all amazing. Thanks a lot! I would love to see all the heroines receiving this kind of punishment. And i think that the new costume works better for this fight scene. For the belt i mean, although i love both costumes….

  • May. 11, 2012 at 11:56 am

Thanks guys, these are really cool comments. I hope you’ll save some for the actual review thread to help me convince people to buy… then I can make another one!

  • May. 11, 2012 at 3:41 pm

As usual, I’ll hold off on my comments about this video until it has its own thread. But one thought hit me while watching this in regards to future NGC product, and I figure I’ll mention that here.

I’ve noticed the villains of the NGC universe, while not exclusively, do tend to primarily desire the death of the heroines they face. Bluebird’s opposition here and in Episodes 1 and 2, Roman, whoever’s been killing girls between seasons 1 and 2… On the one hand, it certainly elevates the stakes about as high as possible. But the trade-off, when dealing with a continuing continuity like NGC’s, is that it does tend to inject a certain amount of predictability. You basically know that either the heroine is going to win, or at the very least escape, or she will die and can then only be used in flashback.

I’m thinking it might be nice, maybe with Season 3, to see a few more villains motivate more by a desire to imprison their opposition, to hold power over them and wish to make them suffer rather than allow them the mercy of death. As I said, I know we get some of those now. I’m just saying, from my point of view, it might be better to see more.

  • May. 11, 2012 at 3:50 pm

Well put AlyAdmirer. I too am starting to tire of all the death threats in NGC lately. The only episode I can think of where the goal was solely to capture the heroine was back in Season 1; that one episode where Red Mist wanted to capture Suki, and even that I felt was poorly handled. Woulda preferred a ko over that collar device. It would just be nice to see someone explicitly trying to capture the heroine in a vid rather than kill her.

  • May. 11, 2012 at 4:30 pm

I’ll save my comments for the real thread. I’m not sure NGC is for me.

  • May. 11, 2012 at 6:40 pm

Thanks for the further comments. I don’t entirely understand the criticism, and here is why:

One of the key plot points for season 2 is that James Roman has ordered the death of all former Elite Force heroines. Therefore, Red Mist operatives look to carry this directive out. Now that deals with why this is happening on a frequent basis in the plot, so let’s look at why, as a writer, this course was chosen; jeopardy needed to be introduced. I received a lot of comments last season that the training room series lacked jeopardy as you knew the heroine was actually safe, so in this season she isn’t safe at all. Aly said: ” You basically know that either the heroine is going to win, or at the very least escape, or she will die” This covers every single ending possible aside from capture: Win, Lose and survive, Lose and die.

So this takes us to capture as an outcome as opposed to victory or death. All have merits, but it was stated by Mike that: “The only episode I can think of where the goal was solely to capture the heroine was back in Season 1” I will admit that the goal to capture may go back that far. But a capture of the heroine [[SPOILER ALERT]] happened in the last episode, released a month ago. [[END SPOILER]] Even the Angel mission released 14 days ago the villain did not have the intention to kill Angel. This makes such a criticism hard to accept. Particularly when we are 20% of the way through the season and building towards something.

I think I’ve stated before that I can’t possibly hope to satisfy everyone. The intention of a villain needs to be sinister, sometimes this will be murder, sometimes capture, sometimes it’s enough simply to defeat the heroine. All three of these outcomes/intentions have taken place in our most recent 3 releases. I can’t improve on that. And frankly, I don’t want to screw everything up trying to match it in the future. If you don’t feel this release has any redeeming features then we’ll just have to disagree because this is my favourite non-episode we’ve ever made, bar none.

Further points: In season 1 episode 6, merely knocking Suki out had no value. They wanted to control her, and by proxy her radiation power, to use to weaken/kill Miss Freedom. Heroines escaping the jaws of defeat/death even winning needs to take place or we have no protagonists for the story line, because they’ll all be dead. It’s not interesting if they are easy to beat. I hope this is all clear. I’m not interested in making a series where every video has an assassination attempt which is foiled. There will be death, capture, victory, and defeat spread throughout this series, I’d just remind people that the plot is long term and needs to play out otherwise it’s junk.

  • May. 11, 2012 at 6:56 pm

Speaking solely for myself, I would call my post an observation, not a criticism. I understand the story reasons for more of an emphasis on death threats in Season 2, which is why I coached my comments about the far future–specifically Season 3–and not, say, Episode 5. Perhaps I brought the strength of the response on myself by holding off on any of my comments specific to this episode.

I also said acknowledged that not all of your villains have been motivated by a desire to kill, even though I didn’t mention the specifics of Episode 4. I didn’t feel I had by noting I wasn’t speaking in generalities.

I’ll respond further when I have more time, but I wanted to get that on the record now. :)

  • May. 11, 2012 at 7:17 pm

Are these critiques of the plot itself? Or are these criticisms leveled at the very EXISTENCE of ongoing storylines?

This is just an observation/opinion, but there seems to be a growing resistance throughout this site to any ongoing plot of any sort. Heroine Legends just came under fire for it. We hear it ourselves. And now here it is again with NGC.

There are (and have always been) more and more producers entering (or experimenting with) the superheroine genre. I’m wondering if this is resulting in an increased audience resistance to ongoing storylines in general?

Also, since I’m passing through… Claire rocks (wish we could work with her) and this episode is very slick. While it’s not possible to please all tastes (and especially all fetishes) with a single video, NGC as always delivers a very solid and entertaining superheroine clip of exceptional quality.

  • May. 11, 2012 at 7:22 pm

Speaking of Suki, she’s awesome and I want to see another episode of her soon!

As for this side mission, after seeing the first one(which I only bought because of Angel), I decided I’m sticking to the main episodes. These just don’t seem for me.

  • May. 11, 2012 at 8:18 pm

I think that the perfomances are real. The villains in this season are all badass, they dont hesitate, they are gonna to kill. And the actresses and the shots makes you feel that threat.
Also in this video we can see a little of blood and its incredible how this little addition make so big impact. For a moment i think that maybe it will be the end of bluebird. These are great filmaking skills, when we see allt that japaneses videos with all that blood is gross and we dont feel anything. Here we care.
But i understand that some fans want to see another kind of peril besides a fight. But for me is OK i think that this is the first company to make great fight scenes in the genre, the plot develops during the fight, when you see that? They always find new twists, and uses the superpowers with great invention to keep us engage. Sorry for my english

  • May. 11, 2012 at 10:14 pm

Let me be abundantly clear: I LOVE continuing storylines–and the NGC one in particular. I think I mentioned before that I started out by just buying the Bluebird material, but I think I’ve bought every video release from Season 1 Episode 9 to the present day because of how much I am engrossed by the depth of the NGC universe. And the only circumstances under which I can see myself NOT picking up an NGC video at this point is if one involved a character or actress I actively dislike. Considering there are currently NO NGC heroines I actively dislike, or actresses who do nothing for me, I think that day’s likely a ways off, if it ever comes.

(On a side note–as vocal as I’ve been in my dislike of the alterations to the Bluebird costume, I’ve found those who’ve said they won’t buy further vids because of that change, or the presence of tights, or any of the other trivial factors that have been brought out alongside the “Guess I’ll Have to Stop Buying These” cards to be exceedingly silly. There is SO MUCH GOOD in what NGC does, there’s no way all that can be outweighed by any perceived negatives on this small a scale.)

To repeat what I said above, I didn’t see my own post in this thread as a criticism, but more an observation and a suggestion. If I gave the impression that I thought the current storyline was in any way lacking, or that this particular video “had no redeeming features”, believe me, when Side Mission 2 gets its own post I’ll disabuse you all of that notion. :)

Put another way: it’s like the problem any action adventure television show has. You know Kirk’s going to save the Enterprise. You know Buffy’s going to slay the monster of the week. You know the Doctor’s going to have an answer for the Daleks–and even if he doesn’t, he’ll regenerate. Knowing all of the above does not stop me from thoroughly loving each and every one of those shows. But one of the beauties of this little world is, that sort of certainty ISN’T a given–which makes their perilous situations all the more engrossing.

Now, for me, that IS dampened a little bit when the villain comes out and says, “I’m going to kill you, Heroine X. I will not stop until you are destroyed.” While there’s an undeniable thrill in the possibility that it COULD happen, if it’s a heroine I like then I’m really NOT going to want it to happen–because I’ll want to see her again. The whole gist of what I was saying is that I think it could be better in the future (again, Season 3 future, not Episode 5 future–I understand why it’s happening with this current storyline) to play things more to the mysterious. The less explicit a villain is what what s/he intends to do with the defeated, the more the imagination is left to wonder. And sometimes that can be even better than the more clear cut “I’ve defeated you, you monster!” or “So long, Heroine X! Muah ha ha!” outcomes.

And again, just to be clear: I still think NGC is the best production company in this business. (No offense, Cult Retro. :) )

  • May. 12, 2012 at 5:55 am

@CultRetro – Thank you for the kind words! I too often see actresses I’d like to work with and curse my luck they are on the other side of the planet. I liked the actress you used for Metal Gypsy, hope we will see more of her.

@Aly – If it was just an observation that’s fine. I just don’t want to give anyone the impression that I can change things soon, or that I want to. As you say, you don’t expect changes right away… but season 3 is a very long way off. I am confident that the storyline will evolve in an interesting fashion for you, but clearly it’s quite slow moving as we can only release in this episodic format. For the NGC side missions we will also see things from the point of view of the heroines, as they investigate criminal activity and try to make their own mark on proceedings.

@Beast – Glad you enjoyed it and like what we are doing.

  • May. 12, 2012 at 7:50 am

I’ll hold my main comments for the new thread, but I will say this – The actress playing Bluebird gives a performance in this video that must be seen to be believed. Claire Yellowlees (hope I spelled that right) is pretty and athletic and looks great in the costume, and the episode is well written and quite dramatic, but what elevates the whole thing to a new level is Claire’s acting. This video taps into the very essence of what I love about the genre. Bravo NGC, and bravo Claire.

  • May. 12, 2012 at 11:51 am

I too will wait to talk about the video in the proper place, but just want to say Shadowstar looks gorgeous, great outfit!
