Season 2, Side Mission 7 from Next Global Crisis

Season 2, Side Mission 7 from Next Global CrisisMore Miss Freedom, more Celestia, more Nina Hellfire, and maybe more season 2 storyline progression than in any other episode. Season 2, Side Mission 7 features all of that and more. Let’s take a look—check out my review, the trailer, and images below.

[Possible spoilers] First, I want to take a moment and rejoice at the return of Nina Hellfire. I’ve always considered Claire/Bluebird the genre’s best all-around talent. I always thought that Anastasiya/Angel was flat-out the best looking girl at NGC, but my personal favorite character has always been Nina Hellfire. The character has always straddled the line between good and evil, and Jennifer Healy, the actress who plays her, portrays that brilliantly.

Anyway, Celestia and Miss Freedom are tasked with tracking Nina down and finding out what she knows about the Red Mist assassination program. Celestia is the first to find Nina, and they have a lengthy fight sequence that involves more fetish elements than the normal NGC episode. Actually, that’s a trend throughout the entire movie.

Nina uses her power to gain an early advantage and delivers quite a few stomach punches to Celestia. Nina burns her a couple more times before Celestia mounts a comeback with punches, kicks, and some knee lifts to the stomach. Nina is able to recover and has Celestia at a severe disadvantage before Miss Freedom intervenes. They have a relatively even back and forth battle until Nina lands a half dozen stomach punches that has Miss Freedom on the edge of defeat. However, Celestia makes the save and Miss Freedom knocks out Nina with a powerful right cross.

Nina finds herself sitting down, arms handcuffed behind her, and under a full blown interrogation. This is where a lot of story exposition is given, so I’ll keep that spoiler-free. Much is revealed, but the most surprising revelation is the new number one target on Red Mist’s hit list. Once again, I won’t spoil that moment but it raises a number of new questions and possible future scenarios.

The interrogation abruptly ends with a surprise and leads to a chloroform sequence.

This was a great Side Mission with a running time of around 15 minutes but it seems to fly past much faster than that. Stomach punch, knockout, handcuff restraint, and chloro fans have reason to rejoice as all of those elements are present in this episode. And last but not least, story fans get a few answers and some new questions to ponder. There’s just really something for everyone here. Nina is back, Miss Freedom is always a welcome sight, and judging by the response to her appearances, Celestia has entered that Bluebird, Suki, Angel territory of fan favorites.

Season 2, Side Mission 7 from Next Global CrisisSeason 2, Side Mission 7 from Next Global CrisisSeason 2, Side Mission 7 from Next Global Crisis

The only question I have is about Miss Freedom’s powers. In a previous episode they were restored, but only in a Blitz-like fashion where she could use them in bursts. She never really displays any obvious signs of super strength or invulnerability in her fight against Nina, and I was thinking she might not have full grasp of her news abilities. Maybe Andrew can clue us in…

Note: This video is 16 minutes long and is available for $9.99 for members (well below a dollar per minute, even at the slightly higher non-member price). Also, this is the first NGC video produced with all-new and improved video and audio equipment, resulting in higher production quality—for this video and future productions.

This was a great episode! I think NGC’s work is the best around and I will continue to buy it as each episode leaves me hanging wanting more! Celestia seems to be my favorite heroine and gets better with every episode. Nina is the best! I love any episode she is in it great to have a cocky and strong female villan. Now I just have to go back and buy some of the missing episodes for my collection! By the way the discount list is awsome!

@flip_flop – Well if we end up with a similar situation then maybe we could do that. I avoided knock-out gas in this instance for two reasons: 1) It is in my mind too slow acting unless a puff is goes directly in the face. 2) We’d used it recently on Celestia when she was captured in Season 2 Episode 6, I think knockout gas is best when whoever is being gassed is trapped or restrained.

This was an incredible episode! One of my favorites so far. That was a great way for Nina to deliver the chloroform, I was wondering how she was going to get to use it. Just an idea for the future…During an interrogation like Nina’s, when the villainess gets free and throws something from her boot, instead of a stun effect, the device would release a knockout gas that would put the heroine interrogator(s) down for the count! Hmm maybe Bluebird and Angel/Athena could just happen to be involved…

@Derek – I’m glad that you enjoyed it, fun to have Nina back and I think the tricks, and the lines made it quite reminiscent of an old TV show, hopefully in a good way.

@Jobber Lover – Glad you enjoyed as well. We love working with Celestia so much that we invite her to shoots she isn’t even in! Definitely part of the family now.

@renNstimpy – If you email me at I will see if we can work something out.

@Richard – The continuation has a more recent villain, but one who not only tests them but gives over some very important knowledge that points to the future moves of the dynamic duo and Elite Force.

@ceej – Well I’m glad the accents are appreciated. Obviously there is a fair amount of British going on but we have tried to make it somewhat ‘Global’ – UK, USA, France, Italy, Russia, Australia, Venezuela, Yorkshire…

  • Dec. 31, 2012 at 1:03 pm

Loved the video, I don’t think I realized how much I missed Nina until I saw it! And it’s funny that we’re brining up accents, Powerstar’s accent was the deciding factor in my picking up the very first NGC video way back when.

  • Dec. 31, 2012 at 12:15 pm

@NGC – No problem, I can’t wait to see what becomes of them. Who’s the villain in that one? Someone who will test both heroines to the limit, I hope!

@Shadowfax – I noticed that too, it reminded me of when she stopped Suki killing Sebastian Luner. Celestia is such a wholesome (naive?) girl still, I love it, seems like she and MF were almost “good cop bad cop”! I don’t think Miss Freedom will become too “dark” though, something about the way she reacted to Angel being targeted.

@Beast – Another accent fan! I love the mix of accents in NGC, in this side mission alone they were all different and all sexy. My favourites are Athena and Lady Victory for the heroines, and Sebastian and Nina for the villains. They just suit their characters perfectly. Suki’s voice was mega sexy like her body but alas, no more. Oh, Erica too! She’s got the most arrogant twang, I adore it.

@Jobber Lover – I don’t really get how anyone couldn’t find Miss Morran attractive – look at those full lips, those wide eyes, that jutting bust, those long legs, that golden hair – but I suppose this just goes to show that beauty IS in the eye of the beholder. I agree with you about the other two though, Celestia looked better than ever.

Happy New Year to all, here’s hoping 2013 will be full of superheroine (mis)adventures!

no, I didn’t buy the video
someone needs to give me it for free 😛
no im just messin round. I can never figure out how to buy any videos
    will a 20 dollar pre-paid visa do?

  • Dec. 31, 2012 at 8:23 am

Haven’t had a chance to chime in on this one until now. I have to agree with those who said that this is the best Side Mission to date. A very good value for your dollar as well. It might well be the best “value” NGC has ever produced when you consider what you get for your money.

I still don’t find Ms Freedom at all attractive. And I’m sorry about that. I know a lot of you out there love her, but there is something about her that just turns me off and I wish I knew what it was. For me if she was a villian it would be better because I think the actress who plays her is talented. But I digress.

Hadn’t seen Nina in a while and she hasn’t lost a step in the time she’s been gone. Nina Hellfire is one of the all time great villians in the genre. I root for her in every video and she’s spot on in this one. In a genre with precious few really great and memorable villians, if you’re making a list of the best villians she has to be on it.

I think Celestia is really starting to grow into her role. Plus I think she’s actually getting bettter looking with each episode. She and Nina carry this Side Mission and its more than worth the price. If you are one of those folks that like (or love) Ms Freedom, then this should probably be a must buy, as I said before this one’s a great value.

  • Dec. 31, 2012 at 5:22 am

So this was my favourite SM to date. Thank you for all the elements you managed to include. We’ve discussed privately the location problems, but I want to say publicly that this one had exactly the right elements for the story you told. Going back up the list of comments about Miss Frredom’s powers, I too was troubled by the lack of response to Nina’s stomach punches. It wasn’t so much that Nina didn’t follow up on her advantage (yes a knockout would have been great as a finale) but that the heroine’s arms stayed down. She did nothing to even try to fend off those blows. Yet the whole look, costumes, KO poses, powers displayed made it really satisfying. Oh and it had my favourite line so far when Nina says “You should always check the boots…” Trust me, Nina, I always do! P.S. The Price, as they say, Is Right.

  • Dec. 31, 2012 at 5:04 am

Yes, there is often a good deal of story in the side missions as well. In the first season when we did the first 4 training rooms it was initially going to be an arc about trainees that had nothing to do with fully-fledged operatives and was really just about their fighting records. But of course I couldn’t leave it alone and it began to contain more story and became affected by what was going on in episodes. In many ways with the side missions they are episodes but not as long… except for this one which is. Get it?

I’ll be putting the price up today for general release as the members have had 3 days to get on the $9.95 band-wagon but still I think it’s good value, I’ve never put out anything that I thought was worse than ‘okay’ but I am pleased with this one. If it’s still $9.95 when you look in the next 5 or so hours I’d make sure you get it,

  • Dec. 31, 2012 at 2:22 am

@The Latin Intellect: No, no she’s not. She looks like a superheroine with an actual figure. ^_^

I really enjoyed this video. I tend to shy away from side missions typically but I have a love of Miss Freedom this season and Celestia is coming along well too. I think when you have a lot of characters like this, it’s hard to develop them in meaningful ways. I actually like the last few episodes taking a spotlight on Miss Freedom and how she’s developing as a character.

Personally I wouldn’t mind seeing an online outlet featuring one heroine, instead of many, to focus purely on character development. Granted that requires a lot more from the producers and a unique way to go about it. Not that said heroine couldn’t have friends, but something to think about.

But yeah, loved the video, the side mission having this storyline really was great. I only wish I could afford more of the videos so I could follow the overall storyline more closely. For me, right now, it’s like catching only a few episodes of a TV show that has both a per-episode-plot and a plot that spans the season. I get the per-episode stuff (which is great!) but the whole season stuff I’m starting to feel like I don’t know what’s going on. >.>

Which is kind of why I’m shying away from the side-missions, so that I can grab more of the full-season plot.

Now I’m just rambling, so I’m gonna log off…

  • Dec. 30, 2012 at 10:47 pm

S2 M4 by far is still the best, but this comes in close! Great episode. Celestia has alwaysbeen my fav. What made this a great episode is **spoiler** Nina’s escape** great cliffhanger too!

One small question; is Miss Freedom gaining too much weight? (Harriet Moran, if I recall correctly?) Don’t get me wrong, she still looks great!

  • Dec. 30, 2012 at 4:05 pm

It may also explain why we do lots of films in windowless rooms and areas in buildings. By contrast we shot Side Mission 4 with Athena on one of the longest days of the year where the Sun doesn’t go down until about 9:30 at night, however clouds etc.. pose new and different problems. A lot of time is spent on colour correction and grading to get an even look. This is my editor’s problem though Muahaha!

London, New York, and Paris are the 3 greatest cities in the world. My opinion, you don’t have to agree.

  • Dec. 30, 2012 at 3:57 pm

Oh yeah…… i forgot how the sun works in london. I understand its very hard to do something like this ….Love london though i have been there for a time and it was awesome. Also there are beutiful girls as we can see in your videos… and that accent ( yes i am an accent freak). Maybe in a different time of the year you can do something i would love to see it
Well this factor makes the making of this video even more remarkable

  • Dec. 30, 2012 at 3:29 pm

@ShadowFax – I wouldn’t want to overstate anything at this stage, Celestia for example has had very little experience among people. Where Miss Freedom was brought up, at least until her teens, in an ordinary way. Also factor in Miss Freedom’s more recent experiences and it could mean that her behaviour is justifiable… or not. I’m always delighted that people actually care about these things though, it makes me very happy.

@Beast – Thanks for those words too. I would like to say that we enjoyed shooting there but it was absolutely freezing and I’m kind of surprised the girls are still speaking to me! Although London is not short of studio’s and interesting locations we struggle somewhat at this time of year as daylight is so short but we took a risk and broadly got away with it due to the way the script was written with a break between fight and interrogation where we let the Sun go down.

  • Dec. 30, 2012 at 3:28 pm

And i love the belly punches moments of course!!!

  • Dec. 30, 2012 at 3:24 pm

I love Nina. She is hot and i a big fan of her accent. I will take this opportunity to say that for me is the best villain in NGC. She deserves to be in a full episode.
The side-mission is top notch, i love how the fight was set up, i love the mix between exposition and fight scene. I love the new location and the sun light!. It adds a lot. I would love the see more exteriors in NGC ( i know that is difficult but thinking in the future). The three girls were great and i think that is visually is the best episode ( with the first of season 2).
    Amazing work!!!

  • Dec. 30, 2012 at 1:45 pm

Okay, so this side mission was all kinds of awesome
It had some decent action, story progression, foreshadowing mayhaps? I noticed that Miss Freedom might be going down a darker road? Celestia seemed adverse to certain interrogation techniques that miss freedom was suggesting (Which is also some character development.

  • Dec. 30, 2012 at 11:46 am

@Lake – Haha!! I hear you. I will rectify this problem at the next available opportunity.

@Mke J – Once the New Year festivities are over I will be arranging the next set of members only films. I am happy to listen to ideas but people who contact me regarding moves, scenarios, and favoured characters who are willing to sponsor the film will get first choice, and there won’t be many choices. Surprisingly affordable too.

  • Dec. 30, 2012 at 11:32 am

The only complaint I have, relates to other producers as well. The number of times a heroine is pinned against a post and takes stomach punches to weaken her but is then NOT finished off with a series of face punches/slaps to knock her down. It’s not only NGC that always seem to miss out this last important step of the ‘beat up a heroine’ process, but others as well.

  • Dec. 30, 2012 at 8:12 am

I really liked this episode. It had some of everything, and the thing that makes these side missions better than the training room videos from the first season is that you get a story in them.

Celestia is one of my favorite characters and I’m glad we’re finally going to see more of Angel, don’t think she’s had a video she’s made more than a came in since Side Mission one.

Are there any members only videos in the works with other heroines.

But I enjoyed this video, Nina made a great villain as always, glad she was back as well. Keep up the good work.

  • Dec. 30, 2012 at 4:19 am

@HolyMolyDude123 – I’m glad you liked it and pleased I’ve turned you into a Miss Freedom fan! I think she is a more interesting proposition now because heroines with immense power can get a little bit dull, but as she masters things she may do better in future. That said we were thinking of renaming her Miss Unconscious since the poor girl seems to get knocked out about 3 times per appearance!

@Mike – I will have definitive answers to those questions in about a week. As far as I will go now is to say that Episode 8 is a film people have emailed me about making every week for around 2 years.

@renNstimpy – Did you buy this video? It broadly answers your skirt/no-skirt question.

@Valugi – I’m very pleased that you enjoyed the interrogation and story elements. I was delighted with the acting, but then I knew they could do it hence why they got the parts in the first place!

@Richard – Thanks for that detailed appraisal. One of the things I really like (as shown throughout this thread) is that people are interested in a story and we’ve made it easy to follow (I hope). I can promise you that every decision is scrutinised before I even begin typing and though some films will inevitably be better than others it won’t be because of lack of effort. The fate of this dynamic duo will be made clear in a couple of weeks.

@Maar13 – Thanks, I see we have a lot of Nina fans, it had been too long I guess but I wanted the next time we saw her to be something of a surprise.

@ShadowFax – Good to hear, I think you’ll really love January.

  • Dec. 30, 2012 at 3:29 am

    Celestia=instant buy from me xD

Celestia Angel and Athena are my instant buy characters. Bluebird is an almost instant buy characters though.

  • Dec. 29, 2012 at 9:39 pm

Yes, this episode was great all over. The chloroform scenes were cool and they completely made sense, the action was great. Celestia and Miss Freddom were great on their roles and Nina is one great villain, plus carries chloroform as a weapon and devices that will help her prompt those kind of situations which is absolutely great.

Hands down Nina has become my favorite villain along with Snare.

  • Dec. 29, 2012 at 9:05 pm

This reminded me of the training room with Nina vs Angel, in terms of fighting and peril, but with more story and dialogue and a better setting. Plus two heroines instead of one. And a double chloroform KO. And bigger production value. So one of my fave season 1 episodes on steroids.

I can’t say enough good things about the actresses. Nina, sadistic and sexy. Her acting during the interrogation is almost chilling, how she taunts and manipulates the heroines and seems to really love being so bad. Miss Freedom, beautiful and buxom. Her fight is relatively short but I like how she’s conflicted over Angel and her chloroforming was hot. And last but not least Celestia, innocent yet alluring. She plays confident and weak with equal skill and its great to see her growing in personality and fight skills.

Can’t wait to see what happens next. Also thanks NGC for the explanation of the power, I guessed that she just hasn’t had a chance yet to build up her power yet. If Celestia did not help her out I guess she might have had to “charge up” but it didn’t come to that. I’m curious to know about Angel now, and the fate of this dynamic duo!

  • Dec. 29, 2012 at 8:51 pm

I have to give congratulations to the producers of NGC great episodes, for me the best of this series (side mission), 3 great actresses acting with great chemistry, the interrogation scene was also very good and also the end makes it worth every penny

This was a great video for NGC end the year, looking forward to what comes later on.

  • Dec. 29, 2012 at 8:01 pm

I hope we get to see Angel soon, in any costume but the skirt.
She looks good in everything but the skirt.

  • Dec. 29, 2012 at 6:19 pm

Adding chloroform back into the mix was awesome! Glad to see you haven’t forgotten us fetish guys. So is the next release Episode 8 or something else? I assume Episode 8 will center on Angel?

  • Dec. 29, 2012 at 6:06 pm

Miss Freedom is easily my favorite character, and this story arc (figuring out how to effectively use her new, nerfed powers) is going to be great. I have said this already, but I’ll say it again. I love peril and enjoy the entries you guys make when the heroines lose, but I actually find myself rooting for Miss Freedom. o.o
Also, Celestia is a close second. I rather enjoy watching her as well. This part of the story Miss Freedom and Celestia is certainly my favorite.

Looking forward to the next episode to see progression of story.

  • Dec. 29, 2012 at 5:12 pm

Thanks for the review Sidekick, I’m glad you enjoyed the film. In answer to your questions about Miss Freedom’s powers – she is still definitely mastering them, one might argue they are mastering her! Because they build into a blitz-style onslaught she needs to gain momentum to become truly dangerous, as you will see in the near future she is rather frustrated with being a shadow of her former self. However, what she has lost in power she has gained in wisdom and humility… Season 2 Episode 7 covers that as much as possible in the time. I think it’s called ‘character development’ or something.. :)

  • Dec. 29, 2012 at 5:04 pm

Nina is definitely a welcome sight! She has been gone for far too long. Her acting ability is among the top in this genre imo.
