“Season 4 Episode 11: Hell & Back” from Next Global Crisis

Miss Freedom was depowered and had to run from the Superior Invasion in the finale of Season 3. The Masked Man caught up with her. Powerless and at his mercy, Miss Freedom must do whatever he wants if she is ever to get out of his clutches. At last we find out just what his interest in her was for and it could lead to something very dark for Elite Force in the future. Miss Freedom learns all about powerlessness but even more about true heroism in this epic video we never thought we’d make.

To celebrate the end of our seasons format we thought it would be fun to go back to the beginning and a character that Miss Freedom had a very difficult relationship with… Angel. This Member Gift is an out-takes video from the wildly popular Season 1 Episode 2 that really gave us the opportunity to keep making these films. It will be available with all purchases of Season 4 Episode 11: Hell & Back for 48 hours after the members email is sent out on Friday.

I have just watched Hell & Back and I liked it but as I have not yet seen any of the previous episodes from this season I do not know if any of the other episodes have a story that lead in to this episode. I want to watch Bluebird: Broken Wings next and then I will get some more titles at a later date. Keep up the good work and I look forward very much to seeing more videos like this in the future. Thanks!

I agree with some of the comments on this being a little slow paced. I would have liked to see more punishment dished out vs having her go down so easily but anytime I get to see Miss Freedom in trouble its all good. Would habe liked more time of her in just the leotard but I like the submission and the other submission in the clutches of the other woman.. A funny moment for me at least was the bearhug by the guy in the Route 66 shirt..he was bearhugging her around her ass not her back LOL

The popular lose ending for NGC films is “heroine is knocked out and carried away”. Which is great, but the film I always want to see is what happens after the heroine gets taken! So needless to say, this was right up my alley. In fact, this might be my favorite film they’ve done (though I usually say that after every release). Even as their longest release, it didn’t feel overly long as I was watching it. And there were a couple of little touches I really enjoyed (the look of vulnerability when she sits with her knees in her chest, and also where she is layed out speed-eagle in the shape of the emblem on her costume).

Great point Ceej about the post match defeat scene. And like you said, being knocked out and carried away is pretty good but it was amazing seeing what happens afterwards. Especially great seeing Myanna posing with a defeated and helpless Miss Freedom in front of the camera bragging about her victory. But what made that scene really awesome for me was the greater implication as it relates to the final battle. That defeated scene meant ultimately the Elite Force heroine’s were defeated in their final battle. Just thinking of the fates that befell Spectrum who would probably be the personal dog of Myanna made me all too weak.

Great observations. Seeing the ultimate fate of Miss F in the lose ending is especially satisfying, partly because the actress does the “weak and docile” thing so well, but also because seeing Myanna does remind us that without Miss Freedom’s intervention, the final confrontation of Season 4 goes a lot differently (call it an “alternate alternate ending”).

Lots of worthy praise for this episode, but I’d like to draw attention to how important the actress’s performance is to making it so great. Even when she doesn’t say anything, the look on her face and her body language convey so much about the fear, disgust, and hopelessness that Miss F is struggling with throughout the ordeal. More than once, I got the feeling from her expressions and movements that the Masked Man was subjecting her to other terrible experiences beyond what we saw.

I understand fabio’s critique below that there isn’t a sustained beatdown of Miss F, but I’m generally not a big fan of the videos that spend a lot of time on lengthy depictions of physical punishment, so this video was much more to my liking than a video where Miss F endures 15 minutes of pummeling, slams, chokes, holds, etc. Every shot of her sitting in her prison, sometimes curled up in a ball, waiting for her captor’s next indignity, is a silent acknowledgment that she’s completely at his mercy. Every time she gets handily knocked out, easily overpowered, is another psychological as well as a physical defeat that chips away at her identity as a heroine. For me, this was a lot better than a protracted beating.

Love your review DrMabuse. Not because I agree with it actually. I’m actually more in the camp of fabio and found it lacking which I’lll explain in a bit. The reason why I love your review is because you enjoyed it from a different perspective which is why I generally try to avoid posting negative reviews of films. Just because I may not like something doesn’t mean others wouldn’t enjoy it.

For me I agree with Fabio on many of his points to which I didn’t particularly like this video. There’s no sustain battle. No sustain beatdown. No real sequence where things really turn badly for our heroine in terms of physical peril. That’s not to say there’s no physical peril. Actually, if you’re a fan of Miss Freedom and you like knockouts then boy did you ever get a treat in this one because she gets knocked out several times. The thing is though is those knockouts occur after two or so moves. To be honest though, I’ve already expressed my general animosity towards Miss Freedom so that may color my opinion a bit. I imagine if you replaced Miss Freedom with my favorite heroine Spectrum then I may NEVER have to by another NGC video again because of how great I would think that video would be. Just goes to show different strokes for different folks.

Right, well you hit the nail on the head at the end there. I have a very wide span of people interested in what I’m doing, it would almost certainly harm the project if I made the same film over and over again because a chunk of that interest would walk away or check the website less. It has always been my aim to vary things. In this case she’s a prisoner for 300 days. For half of that time she is completely depowered which is why she is ko’d so easily multiple times. If he continued wailing on her she would be dead and he would have messed his entire plan up. The point of it is to show her helplessness. I think some people understand that. Also, it’s nearly 34 minutes to get the point across but we charged as we would for something that was 25. Cutting that time would up the pace of the film but it wouldn’t tell the story in the way we wanted.

To be honest, the Broken Wings Part 2 thread has really reminded me that I have to make what I think will work, and this will overlap with everyone’s interests at least once a month. Effectively, people are asking me always to make the same film over and over, but they are different films because they are different people.

If you want something specifically catered to you then email me and I’ll give you a quote.

Thanks Darkwrath. I follow the same policy about not posting negative reviews, since I know something that didn’t appeal to me much is going to be in someone else’s wheelhouse (as long as it’s done well.) Broken Wings is a good example. I didn’t have anything to say about that series, and wasn’t surprised at some of the negative reviews, but I expect some folks really liked it. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with a critical review either, particularly when you articulate what you find lacking in a video, as happened in that thread (and fabio does as well.)

Personally, I think NGC does a great job making a variety of films that appeal to varied tastes. Some I love, others I don’t, but they’re always professional and the storytelling is not neglected. Without that, I’d probably skip some.

I gotta be honest I was not a fan of this one. It is almost all story and now physical peril. I found myself so irritated and havng to keep fast forwarding to a good actual fight scene and to my surprise there isnt one. She gets slapped around and the dude calls it a night and walks off. She supposedly is trapped in that scenario for 300 days but it does not feel like that. After 200 days she is still as confident and hopeful. Idk. I feel bad ragging on the film but it just was not what I was expecting at all. I didnt see the same movie as Warfish apparently, because I didn’t think the peril was incredible or on par with NGC’s absolute best. their best Ms Freedom film is Secret Defeat. Go watch that if you can. Ms Freedom takes a vicious 2 on 1 beating. She is more hurt there than here. I am so disappointed that we finally see her stripped of her skirt and she doesn’t take a serious beating. A crisis moment at least wouldve helped. Especially if we’re supposed to believe we saw her in a span of 200 and something days held captive. Oh well. Still love NGC and Im still looking forward to their next film. Its just been a minute since Ive seen them do a full on one-sided beatdown and I was sure this one was it. It was very slow and too many pauses in between peril.

Haven’t watched this episode as yet and probably won’t get to until tomorrow but can I just take a moment to say just how AMAZING the upcoming Kandy Crisis video looks. Diva is just absolutely gorgeous in that one, especially when she was dressed as Virtue.

Warfish

All I can say is – wow!

This film is NGC doing what they do best, combining great storytelling and incredible peril.

The story itself – I won’t give anything away. I’ll just say though, I personally find the story lines of these films to be an important aspect of my enjoyment of the film overall, and I was not disappointed here.

Peril aspects – fantastic. Mental torture, physical beat downs, AOH, submission. There is an air of constant threat running right through this.

Film making – amazing. This could be shown on the BBC as part of a regular series and people wouldn’t bat an eyelid – that is the quality of the directing, the framing, the sound design, the lighting and all of the practical considerations of film making that when done right are often overlooked – but when done badly can ruin a film. We are truly lucky to have professionals like NGC making movies for our little sub-genre here.

Endings – superb. Both of them.

Special shout out to Harriet playing Miss Freedom this is probably one of her best portrays of the character. I really hope that she will be back for more!

The very first NGC films I bought were the two that ended series 1, way back in the day. This film very much evokes that same spirit of defiance against the odds by Miss Freedom. I fell in love with NGC back with those early films and I am delighted that they have essentially now come full circle.

I was pretty harsh with the Bluebird: Broken Wings series last month. I felt – and this is personal opinion don’t forget – that NGC slipped from it’s usual high standards. Well they are very much back to their best with this release, and I cannot recommend enough picking this one up.

5 out of 5.

Cannot wait for this…! Miss Freedom suits the chained up look. I hope you keep on making films with her, she is just amazing and seems to get better with age. More belly punches please!

Not for nothing but I really don’t like Miss Freedom. Not the actress or the actress portrayal of Miss Freedom. She’s actually pretty good. I don’t like the character. For one, she’s a traitor. That alone is sin enough to earn my contempt. But not only that, she abandoned Erica to be left in the hands as a concubine for one of the harbingers and left BlueBird in the hands of Eliza resulting in the latter being tortured for well over a year. During the final fight in season 3, she ran with her tail between her legs leaving the other girls to their fates. Incidentally, that lead to the death of Athena, the capture and eventual death of Celestia, and left Virtue on her own (luckily Virtue managed to live through the superiors initial invasion). Then Miss Freedom comes back at the end of season 4 and had it not been for Spectrum would have gotten her ass handed to her anyway. AND(!!), she just assumes the mantle of leader of Elite Force once again. I suppose Spectrum and the other new girls wouldn’t know any better but I hope Erica gave Miss Freedom hell and then some before they welcomed her back to the fold.
And she’s arrogant. Not cocky. Not confident. Arrogant. Just listen to her in season 3 episode 4 when she was fighting bluebird.
Of course none of that would stop me from enjoying this up coming release in typical peril fashion but still. Screw her! She deserves just about everything coming her way.

Erica for Elite Force leader!

I can’t argue with much of that, she’s a very flawed character, that was sort of the point. But she is learning through experience. She was gifted by far the greatest powers anyone at that point had seen as a small child. She didn’t earn her position, and it was exactly her arrogance that made the Roman brothers and others set up Red Mist to destroy her. She was also a victim however because she was duped into believing the Superior invasion would be benign and unstoppable, so various choices were made with that situation in mind AND because of the extremely limited resources at her disposal in early season 3. Remember that she had learned to temper her pride at that time when prizefighting for the enjoyment of rich men who got to pick out a slutty version of her costume to fight in (sometimes it would annoyingly be the only one she had to hand in future as well). Her escape from the invasion scene at the end of season 3 was simply because in a de-powered state she had nothing to offer, and by saving herself she might one day be able to rally the planet against the Dark Superiors, which is sort of what happened.

She was designed to divide opinion though. So while I view her with a bit more leniency than you do, your view is still valid. I would imagine our fictional public would have a range of views on her as well.

Yeah. I “like” the character, in the sense that I find her very interesting, enjoy the actress’s performance, and tend to like the videos in which she appears. But, she’s a very flawed heroine, and her flaws have been apparent since the beginning. In fact, I really like the fact that NGC introduced a lead heroine, central to much of the action across multiple seasons, who also had such ample failings. That’s one of the things that makes her (and NGC) interesting, IMO.

Moreover, Miss Freedom’s arc over the course of four seasons wasn’t the standard “bad girl learns her lesson and becomes good” story. She had several opportunities to learn from humbling defeats and new developments, and she did express signs of growth now and then, but she also continued to come across as arrogant and calculating at other times. More than once, I wondered how she inspired such friendship from Athena and Celestia.

Your perspective here highlights an important detail, which is that she needed to make a lot of compromises without knowing what the future would hold. Miss F comes to her friends’ rescue more than once at great risk, but acts unconcerned about other teammates when they are suffering. She also holds her cards close to the vest, so to speak, rather than sharing her concerns with others so they might make informed decisions.

Of course, the NGC heroines have never been just a bunch of pure-of-heart do-gooders. Some of them want to do right due to high ideals, but it seems to me that all the NGC heroines are motivated by some combination of idealism, thrill-seeking, and self-regard. The exact mix of motivations is different for each one.

So can you clarify what you meant by “in this epic video we never thought we’d make.” From the stills and trailer it looks good, love Ms Freedom, but I dont sense anythign out of the ordinary

It’s because when Episode 10 was released, we hadn’t even agreed to shoot this. She came back to shoot for a few hours in the Episode 10 shoot in May and that was going to be it. I had written this story if not the script but never expected to make it, but we managed to convince her to do it in Late September/Early October.

Valik

Oh i see it was about not knowing the shoot was going to happen, The way it read to me was that there was some kind of content that you never thought you’d do in one of your videos. It’s easy to mistake that line in your description
