Nobody does dark and creepy like Steve Noir (and I mean that in the best of ways). Noir’s Resident Virus series continues with this third installment, which happens to involve a giant, web-spinning worm creature. Love the set design, lighting and atmosphere! [Read more…]
Here are some impressive looking video stills (if you ask me) from Steve Noir’s upcoming sequel, Resident Virus 3, featuring something called “web peril” (I wasn’t aware of the existence of such a thing, but it looks pretty interesting). Check out the images below! [Read more…]
UPDATED with trailer! Here’s a sneak peek at SHG-Media’s just-released Steve Noir video, Agent Jamie: KOed and Strangled. Looks like a pretty dark video that should please fans of Noir’s work—particularly those who like knockouts, bondage, groping, and more. Check out the stills (and trailer) below! [Read more…]
The Black Phoenix features: Ashley Rose in a skin-tight black spy-girl costume, a ton of action and violence, lots of sexual peril, and, in my opinion, an outstanding performance by Steve Noir as the evil Dr. Strangor. (With a name like that, you pretty much have to become evil.) [Read more…]
Steve Noir’s Resident Virus 2: Mimesis is now available from SHG-Media. Like the previous Resident Virus video, it features technical proficiency in terms of establishing a creepy tone and atmosphere, even if it doesn’t deliver the kind of hard-hitting action you might expect from, say, Next Global Crisis or Zen Pictures. Steve Noir’s latest project, Freakmaker: Sparrow Caught, is now available at SHG-Media. Noir has developed something of a cult following in the genre for his stylistic approach to heroine peril; he often deals with characters and situations not often found in the majority of heroine videos. I enjoyed Sparrow Caught for its visual style and its two attractive heroines, and fans of heroine beat-downs should check this video out, as the second half of the video features an absolute pummeling of the main character, Sparrow. I only have one question for you—do you like belly punching? Because if you do, then Steve Noir has answered your prayers with an epic 25-minute belly punching fetish movie consisting of relentless, unceasing stomach punishment that would test even the most hardened of ribcages. I’m a fan of Steve Noir’s work, and I admire his modus operandi of focusing on the most specific, exclusive fetish content and delivering videos tailor-made for the fan who isn’t necessarily looking for anything else. Which is not to say that there isn’t entertainment value for everyone here, as Star gives a remarkable performance worth checking out. This is truly a fetish epic on a small scale (an “intimate epic,” as the critics might say). [Read more…]
If you haven’t seen a Steve Noir-directed video before, you should know what to expect—something completely different. Noir’s videos aren’t “action packed” and typically feature little to no fighting and no dialogue. The focus with his videos appears to be on mood and atmosphere, and he uses stylistic filmmaking techniques to capture the subjective experience of the heroine (at least, I think that’s what he’s doing). Revecca: Resident Virus exemplifies that style, and does it really well, in my opinion. This isn’t the usual “heroine in peril” fare, but it is a very good video, if you’re looking for the type of “fetish” content it offers, and if you’re not expecting scantily clad superheroines. It’s not everyday that I see an independently produced heroine peril video that is truly out of the ordinary, but I think that’s the case with Sleep Chamber, directed by Steve Noir for SHG-Media. Regular visitors to this site may remember Noir’s early genre effort, Dark Robin vs. Freakmaster, a video which I had a somewhat lukewarm reaction to based on the lack of peril, but it was a video with its own unique vibe that clearly aimed at pleasing viewers looking for a specific kind of action. Rather than embracing the kind of violent, fight-oriented peril viewers might expect, Sleep Chamber goes way in the other direction, placing a laser-sharp focus on specific fetish material that might have limited appeal in terms of the number of viewers, but is probably a dream come true for fans of the video’s specific fetish content. Superherogirls Media has released Silver Fox in Dream Machine, a new heroine peril film featuring the Silver Fox character from Superherogirls.com. The film is pretty short at about 10 minutes, and doesn’t spend much time setting things up or resolving anything. The entire film is basically a beat-down of Silver Fox at the hands of a female enemy. It’s pretty good for what it is, with a few flaws, but for the most part a pretty good, simple heroine film.

SHG-Media has made a clear effort to improve the quality of their films in 2010. Their last couple of releases, while not perfect, have displayed significantly improved technical quality. Dark Robin vs. Freakmaster continues that trend with the best editing and fight choreography of any SHG produced film. While the company is to be applauded for that, this latest offering might surprise certain viewers expecting to see the usual conventions of a heroine peril film.
