Zen Pictures returns to the martial-arts-infused-spy-girls-in-office-attire genre with Burning Action – Superheroine Chronicles Burnout Neo 2, starring Ayana Tanigaki and Asami reprising their characters from the first installment. It’s a fun romp with lots of action and a brief torture scene, and some genuine suspense towards the end. [Read more…]

Burning Action – Superheroine Chronicles Burnout Neo Vol.1 from Zen Pictures contains the best fight choreography and editing I’ve ever seen in the heroine peril genre. While the costumes and performances are a little disappointing, the amazing action sequences make this a worthwhile purchase, in my opinion. [Read more…]

When I see a movie like Zen Pictures’ Killing Angels, I have to wonder why I waste so much time watching generic Hollywood movies and TV shows, which never feature two hot Asian heroines in skin-tight leather costumes who fight bad guys and then get captured, beaten, whipped and electrocuted before winning in the end. American Heroine-Star Lady is a PG-13-level superheroine-themed release from Zen Pictures. This is another attempt at the “Supergirl” mythos by Zen, and it’s notable for, among other things, featuring one of the worst wigs in peril movie history, worn by the film’s beautiful lead actress, who is identified simply as “Rachel.” [Read more…]

How would you like to see a Zen Pictures film featuring the Japanese approximations of Supergirl, Power Girl and Wonder Woman, all working together as a team? On top of that, how would you like it if all three found themselves in a tremendous amount of peril through much of the film? Sounds good, doesn’t it?
