Here’s the Heroine Movies exclusive trailer for SHG-Media’s new video Divinity, directed by Rye. Looks like a new Powergirl-based character, although this video presumably does not take place in the “Punished Heroines” universe. A reader by the name of Mark sent in the following review…
Rye has released his latest film entitled Divinity. If memory serves, it is his first release since parting ways with The Battle for Earth. I bring this up because I think this release may have originally been intended to be a Battle for Earth product. It’s cast includes familiar faces from earlier TBFE videos and references characters from some of those videos by name. Perhaps Rye can shed some light on this. Anyway, on to the review.
The video opens with the heroine Divinity entering a villains lair in order to rescue a damsel in distress. After quite openly (and comically) questioning the damsels intelligence, Divinity is attacked by a soldier like henchman. Divinity quickly knocks him to the ground and starts to walk out with the hostage. However, with the help of a Blackberry like device, the henchman is able to power himself up and keep fighting. This cycle repeats itself until the henchman is a physical equal, if not superior to Divinity. After a few minutes of fighting, Divinity is able to get behind the henchman and snap his neck.
However, she is attacked from behind by an incredibly powerful Gorilla who spends the better part of five minutes pounding on Divinity. The gorillas assault is only interrupted by orders from an unseen villain who informs the gorilla that a third henchman named Gunther has recaptured the damsel. You may recognize the character of Gunther from an earlier TBFE release. Divinity squares off against Gunter and lands several punches, none of which hurt Gunther in the slightest. What follows is basically a fifteen minute beat down of the heroine by Gunther, who gets some assistance from the gorilla in dismantling Divinity. The video ends leaving the short term safety of Divinity very much in doubt.
If you’re a fan of Rye’s work there is a ton to like here. There are backbreakers, full nelsons, bear hugs, low blows, small scenes of a heroine dominating, and large scenes of a heroine getting dominated. I think the thing that I was most impressed with was the actress that played Divinity. I think she is a new face to the genre but I can’t recall ever seeing a better actress for this kind of film. Just top notch work. I hope to see more from her soon.
The only criticism I can level is that I think this video could have used a little more time in the editing room to make it a little tighter. Otherwise, it is another good addition to Rye’s ever growing collection.
