Next Global Crisis has released the 18th and apparently final Training Room episode. It features a fight between Nina Hellfire and Jade Vendetta, a surprise appearance from a Training Room favorite, and some well executed story moments that really bring closure to this series.
As with every other Training Room video, the participants are introduced, and yes, the computer still has the sarcastic edge it developed in the previous episode. I’m not sure why Nina Hellfire was still hanging around after the Red Mist takeover, but I’m glad she was. Personally, Nina has become my favorite character to emerge from the Training Room series and all the credit goes to the exceptionally talented actress.
The fight begins, and this was honestly not the most polished or intricate fight choreography that Next Global Crisis has ever produced. This fight itself is pretty much fetish free. It’s mostly back and forth punching with several short strangulation scenes thrown in. Neither combatant gains the advantage so Jade Vendetta calls in a drone for some back-up. Nina attempts to defend herself but her punches and super power have little to no effect on the drone. Jade Vendetta orders the drone to snap Nina’s neck, but she is saved just in time by the returning Magenta.
Nina and Magenta seem poised to escape, but through a very well written and acted out scene, Jade Vendetta let’s them know how hopeless their situation is. I rather liked this part because it hinted at the long reach and incredible influence that Red Mist seems to have at their command. I think this angle to the story has a lot of potential and I hope it is explored more thoroughly in the future by the producers.
Jade Vendetta’s words seem to have a pretty powerful effect on one of the trainees, and from the looks of things, Red Mist has a new member. Jade Vendetta then orders the computer to shut down and the episode ends with Jade giving an ominous bit of foreshadowing about what the future holds.
Episode 18 is more substance than style. The storytelling is top notch and several things happen that create openings in which the creative team can go with future plots. The fight scene, while solid, is not spectacular, but this episode is still an amazing send off to what has probably been the most ambitious effort ever undertaken by a online heroine movie producer. I don’t know what the Next Global Crisis team has planned, but the are going to have a difficult time improving on the Training Room series.
