If these details are THAT important to you, you might consider financing a custom video. Doing so will give you a great deal of control over things like costume and particular elements of said video. It comes off a bit bratty and entitled to continually post little nit-picks like this in the comments of a video that is 99% completed.

This isn’t necessarily directed at you, just a general trend around here… thinking out loud because I think these comment sections are having a negative effect on producer’s motivations.

If you want certain elements (or the lack of certain elements), it’s better to request them in upcoming films rather than berate producers for films already made – especially a producer that’s already on record stating that he’s going to make films that appeal to him as ‘fresh’ instead of using feedback here that he considers stale and overplayed.

I’m part of the segment that wants hardcore content to MAX out at about 30% of a good SHIP film. But I’m not going to spar with a producer who has made a conscious decision to go a certain direction.

At some point this site has really crossed the line from critique to complaining and I fear that it has already pissed off one of my favorite producers (Rye).

            6+
          • @ Rover, for some reason the site won’t let me reply to you.

Complaining is criticism in a critique. It is fair game when you produce a product. Criticism should be embraced to improve oneself and not seen as a personal attack. I know that it is hard to put aside those feelings but one can gain so much by looking at feedback. Producers can either agree with the critique and make changes or continue to produce the same types of videos. They either know what is best by the numbers, cocky, or are willfully ignorant.

I think RYE gets so much criticism for not being hardcore because they hire pornstars. What do people expect from pornstars? The answer is hardcore sex. You don’t need a degree to figure it out. Alexis Monroe is one of the most popular pornstars and she is known for being a hardcore performer. RYE has alienated her fan base, and they won’t have any interest in seeing her in softcore and R-rated videos. The majority of people who want Alexis Monroe in softcore SHIP are fans of RYE and SHIP fans that want softcore videos.

If RYE did not hire pornstars, then I think they would get less heat for their softcore films. I don’t see the same complaints towards companies who hire non-pornstar models.

I find it odd that RYE is one of your favorite producers when you also want hardcore maxed out at 30%. They offer zero percent hardcore content. I’m not sure how that works for a custom who wants hardcore.

The only way to make change is by using the power of the dollar. Money speaks volumes to every business.

GeekyPornCritic, your opportunism to continue your axe-grinding against studios who hire porn stars but have the temerity to avoid actually penetrating them, as if those porn stars’ only possible value is to be penetrated, is not only tiresome and disrespectful but inappropriate here in the Uninvited 6 Preview.

Generally, badgering producers for their deliberate choices seems not only tone-deaf but rude. I agree with rover that it has a destructive effect, and I think for some that’s quite intentional.

Imagineer, GeekyPornCritic’s criticism about studios who hire hardcore performers for softcore shoots may be tiresome to you, but that in no way means that he shouldn’t speak his mind.

          • TheLecher says:

            @Imagineer

            A. Consumers can ask for what they want. A producer needs to understand the trade-off when he or she uses a venue such as this website which offers direct interaction with their potential customers. They get better exposure for their product, and possibly increased sales as a result. They get feedback which can lead to more popular future productions, and can prove useful in other ways. But they also have to read through criticisms, requests, and so forth. Just because you (or even Rye) don’t like it, doesn’t mean that there’s anything wrong with what GeekyPornCritic is doing.

            B. His post in this thread, disagreeing with another user, and referencing Rye’s productions cannot be “badgering” Rye, unless Rye is also posting in this thread, which has not happened yet. Even then, I would dispute that he was “badgering” any producer. And I certainly don’t agree that making any passing reference to another producer’s work is disrespectful to SHL. He wasn’t advertising another producer’s product, and he didn’t try to draw people away from this thread to another thread.

  7. This is one of the best Supergirl costumes that I have seen in SHIP. Many costumes have cheap emblems and some look painted on. Those are some of the worst costumes. A bad emblem makes a costume look cheap. Other costumes have the wrong hue of a light blue costume.

Your costume is on point. It is perfect and Ashley is the perfect model for the role. Her beauty further evaluates the costume.

  26. Bert says:

Ashley Lane is one of the most potent actresses in the HIP genre. She has great acting chops. She is very beautiful and feminine without any of the fakish attributes of many adult performers. She looks believable in action scenes. She has some of the best facial expressions in fight/peril scenes. Look at the first photo; she is doing so little, yet she exudes such strength and poise.

And yet, (Sorry SHL, I’m not singling you out here at all, I just want to make a point and it happened to be on your thread) because she is willing to do pretty much anything, she is increasingly asked to go further and further down the road of the extreme. Market forces are changing the HIP landscape. Buyers are demanding more extreme content and producers are obliging. I see at least two problems with the new paradigm. One, it leaves people like me, who dislike the more extreme content, wanting. I don’t think we are legion, but I believe there are plenty of us. Second, it may erode the talent base. Ashley, and others, may just decide that bathing in green goo or being led around a ring in full bondage gear isn’t worth the paycheck, and then we all suffer from the loss.

    4+
    • SHL says:

I think you are misreading the situation, or adding to much of your perspective to it.

Ashley has requested on set more extreme content than I was planning on filming. She if anything has dictated the more hard content in these films, asking and trusting her costars to go farther with the darker content.

I can assure you this: when it comes to someone like Ashley, she pushes the limits of what I was comfortable shooting. She had a great time on set, and for this film the only time she looked miserable is when we struggled to clean off the slime.

But I can assure you she had the option to not use the slime. I actually opted that we shouldn’t because it was really sticky and be a nightmare to clean. She wanted too.

      • Bert says:

Understand, I in no way was accusing you of any sort of mistreatment of actors. I do find it reassuring (though slightly unsettling) that Ashley encouraged a harder edge. My point was more general than Ashley or SHL specifically. And yes, one person’s extreme is another person’s comfort zone. I guess I just miss the days where more than NGC and the odd Kandygirl or Bluestone vid had the content that I prefer.

        Gotta run. More later.

        0
    • Imagineer says:

Ashley’s own interest in aggressively exploring expressions of sexual power dynamics notwithstanding, I can see why you’re concerned, Bert. But if there’s a trend of producers moving toward the more extreme, SHL hasn’t followed it — sure, slime might be weird, but the first Uninvited defined a particular aesthetic to which SHL has remained true.

Other producers have mentioned before that their market no longer supports them doing anything but custom videos — and I’m guessing that SHL didn’t just shoot multiple Uninvited episodes because response to his consensual video idea was overwhelming.

So where do you think other buyers of the content you like have gone? I wonder if perhaps they’ve gotten fragmented into related/subfetishes, e.g. sleepy fans buying sleepy videos, wrestling fans buying wrestling videos, noir fans buying French-made videos, FF fans buying Christina and Anastasia videos… or maybe enough still buy into the five-minute-sexual-violence-ending productions from the Pacific Northwest trio that there isn’t room for another producer to make a no-extremes go of it.

What do you think could be done to rebuild a critical mass for steady production of the content you like? Maybe you could write stories or scripts, or find existing stories and get the author’s help, and see if you could rally your kindred spirits with a concerted effort.

      2+
      • SHL says:

I definitely shot a film that I’m more terrified about the reaction to it cause it’s very different, the style and tone are mostly probably alien to this genre and have no clue what to expect from the public reaction to it.

If anything though, shooting the Uninvited series will allow me to be more experimental with new films. But I feel there are certain guarantee that’s the audience will come to expect with Uninvited branded films. Home Invasion, takedown and rape. At least to me, that’s what the series has always been about.

But maybe that’s not everyone’s view on it.

I probably will spend the bulk of my fetish career making fetish films. While I’m young though and have less responsibilities to things like family and children, I want to explore more darker themes and content while I can.

And I dunno. I think I have some ideas that are refreshing and also true to people’s taste.

        4+
        • TheLecher says:

My expectations for the Uninvited series are definitely home invasion, takedown, and rape, so you hit the nail on the head with your assessment.

That being said, the “home invasion” part of it is flexible. Uninvited 1 – 4 showed the villain invading the heroine’s home. Uninvited 5 showed the heroine invading the villain’s home and paying the price. That worked just as well for me. And I’m sure that there are other ways of playing it, as well. For instance, if other shooting locations and sets were available, I could see “home invasion” becoming “headquarters invasion”, where the villain invades the headquarters of some super team while only the victim was on guard duty, or where a lone heroine invades a villain’s headquarters and is taken down by one or more baddies. Speaking for myself, I’m not stuck on it being a “home,” although I’m perfectly fine with that trend continuing.

And I’m personally quite flexible about the takedown, as well. I enjoy the fight scenes, though I often feel that the beatdown goes on for too long. (I realize that some others feel differently about extended beatdowns, and it’s not possible to please everyone all of the time, so I’m not complaining about extended beatdowns. I’m willing to sit through them.) My personal preference, when there’s a fight scene, is for a well choreographed and well executed fight which lasts five or six minutes, with the heroine starting out strong, but getting worn down, overwhelmed, trapped, etc., and ending with a couple of minutes of beatdown.

However, a fight scene isn’t an absolute requirement for me. I enjoy them, when they’re well done, and it gives an opportunity to make the superheroine seem more super, but the one real requirement for me in superheroine sexual peril (and I’m really only interested in superheroine peril if it’s sexual, and explicitly so), is non-consensual sex, whether it be forceful rape (my favorite), blackmail (my second favorite), mind control (also fun), or drugging (my least favorite, but I’ll watch it if I like the female performer).

      • Bert says:

That is an extremely well thought out response. First off, I think my building discomfort with the direction of HIP films spilled over when I saw the pics from this unreleased vid. The recent release of a video starring Arielle really put me off because I think she, like Ashley, is an exceptional actress. That vid depicted stuff that is very off-putting to me. It bugged me that a well made video starring a favourite of mine came out and I wouldn’t be buying it because the content was largely of zero interest to me. In that frame of mind, I saw these preview pics starring the amazing Ashley Lane. The initial pics had me pretty excited, so the goo pic came as a tremendous letdown and put me right back into the dejected state I felt about the Arielle vid. In retrospect, I think posting my comment here was a bit unfair to SHL, although I did say I wasn’t singling him out. It was more about a general unhappiness with the genre coming to a head with these 4 images.

I am keenly aware that my tastes are…milder than that of many HIP fans. I have purchased many videos knowing they contain content that I dislike because they also have stuff I do enjoy. Some of my favourite vids fall under that category. My sense of the genre today, unfortunately, is that content is skewing more in the direction of stuff I don’t want to see. It’s one thing to shell out forty bucks on a vireo I’ll watch half of and ignore the rest. It’s quite another to only get 25% or less of the stuff I want.

As for where others like me have gone, I don’t think we’ve gone anywhere. I think we’re still here, hoping for releases that suit our tastes to pop up every now and then. I do not have the coin to do customs. I can write, but I don’t see the point in creating a script if I can’t afford to have it produced.

        1+
        • SHL says:

          TBFE is usually strictly customs.

I don’t know I share the same opinions about content being more extreme today. If anything I think everyone has been pretty tame in their content.

As for my Uninvited series… I am not sure a hardcore rape series of films is a place to be disappointed about escalated tone of content. Thats kind of the point of these films. And I don’t think a model getting covered in slime is really that violent.

I think there are plenty of options listed here on this site of content that isn’t extreme.

    • I don’t consider this extreme unless it leads to death. Giga is the most extreme studio for SHIP movies. Death and blood ruin the experience for me. Sex and blood do not mix in my opinion. That’s where the genre crosses the line.

As Imagineer said, slim may be weird, but it is not extreme.

      3+
      • TheLecher says:

I also dislike mixing sex and death, although blood doesn’t put me off, as long as it isn’t overdone. A bloody lip, a nosebleed, a slight wound to some part of the body are all fine with me, since they can add to the realism of a fight scene or increase the sense that the villain truly means the heroine harm. However, lots of blood is definitely off-putting for me.

Even so, that’s the line for me. I know that it isn’t the line for a lot of people, and I don’t think that there’s anything wrong with them enjoying things which I don’t enjoy. As long as no one is harmed and all participants are consenting, do as you please.

..I’m really sorry, for some reason my screen scrolled up to this particular comment instead of mine, and as a result, it sounds like I say “it’s awesome” that you emptied your bank account…which is not awesome…by any mean…
          …i should stop talking now…

Your cinematography is always so crips and beautiful. Would love to see more of this upcoming film. I hope he bangs her while covered in that goo as well.

I’d love to see your tallents when appied to a story that does not take place in a home. For me, it feels too “role playing with the girlfriend”, but I’ll probably still check this one out.
