[Guest review] MAV, a reader familiar to many of you around these parts, has kindly contributed the following review of Zen Pictures’ Hyper Sexy Heroine Next Bikini Detective starring the lovely Yui Tatsumi in a costume that barely exists. Looks like another fun entry from Zen Pictures.
MAV: Hyper Sexy Heroine Next Bikini Detective has the slowest start of any Zen movie that I’ve seen. For the first five minutes, it’s just cops talking. Then the very curvy Yui Tatsumi shows up just in time, wearing a dental-floss bikini that’s barely there. She looks great, but no action occurs for the first 25 minutes, except that we see some bad guys take hostages at a convenience store.
The Bikini Detective then goes to the sieged store and tries to negotiate with the bad guys. When that doesn’t work, she starts taking off her bikini to trick the bad guys, and then the action finally starts. Yui looks pretty good delivering punches and kicks and also taking a series of belly punches while being held by the bad guys. The Zen guys do a great job with the camera work to focus on Yui’s curves throughout the five-minute fight scene. The Bikini Detective finally breaks free and almost has the situation under control until her geezer of a partner breaks in and gets taken by the thugs. They take him hostage, but the Bikini Detective collars one of the villains.
The next nine minutes are spent back at the precinct with Yui still in her same awesome outfit, where she and her cop friends receive videos from the villains demanding an exchange of the thug for her partner. The Bikini detective shows up by herself to make the exchange, which soon turns into another fight scene. Yui looks pretty good but not great again dealing and taking some blows. The thugs are defeated, but the leaders run away and Yui goes after them into an abandoned warehouse. As is typical in most Zen movies, the heroine then gets captured, in this case after being KO’d with a blow to the face.
Then comes my favorite type of the Zen movie scene: the hot heroine, in a skimpy outfit, tied AOH for torture. The torture/peril scene, which lasts six minutes uninterrupted, is pretty good, given the AOH position, Yui’s acting as she’s bellypunched repeatedly, and the outfit she’s oozing out of (I wish she would‘ve been whipped or electro-tortured). Many different camera angles show us all of Yui’s torment, especially since the villains are videotaping it. Then a real buzzkill occurs when someone comes to Yui’s rescue and the movie soon ends.
Overall, Yui looks amazing in her bikini; the action, when it happens, is pretty good; and there is an above-average torture/peril scene. I give this movie a solid B+.
