Great costume! Great attitude! I like her in this outfit. It is different to what we usually see, but it is really good!! It fits her perfectly. Lovely. Wish there was an episode with some KOs. Good luck for future productions!

Good general idea.

However, a bit too MvF beatdown for my tastes overall but some good FvM scenes.

Great looking girl (& costume).

Bought the VICTORY version. Sadly a bit of a feeble ending……

Hope to see a bit more FvM fighting (nb. F = winning) going forwards as a film purchase option.

I bought the defeated version so the MvF beatdown was totally up my alley. If anything I would want to see more menacing villains on the next video. Perhaps 5v1 on the next one? One can hope right? 🙂

Speaking of the ending, I kind of wish she was knocked out in the defeated version and then taken away in a over the shoulder type of scenario to some room in the floor. They make multiple insinuations throughout the video that shows they have malice intent to what they want to really do with her, and doing this would be a great way of allowing the imagination to run wild on what these villains are going to do with her now that’s out cold.

I would much rather see that then just straight up what happens in the ending now.

Either way, I’m looking forward to Episode 2.

The victorious version was only an extension of the defeated version lasting no more than a few minutes more. She recovers from the beating and dispatches the villains. This was not very satisfying as it seems to be an only an afterthought.
I still do not understand the logic of being defeated. How is she supposed to continue her ascent?

Mike3
Mike3

Jacques, would you suggest I get the victorious version since, from what it seems you’re saying, it basically covers the defeated version, just with her recovering and being able to defeat the villains? Only asking because I’m looking to order this soon. Thanks

BigZee
Jacques

Yes, you will get the complete video with the victorious version. If you change your mind and only want to see the defeated version, turn off the film immediately after the neck break. I sincerely hope that Finn adjust the costume a bit and have a more elaborate finish for the victorious version. Please.

BigZee
Jacques

One more time, the combat is terrific and I don’t think that you will be disappointed.

BigZee
Jacques

Mr. Finn, how about an explanation please?

Finn
Finn

First of all I want to thank you, Jacques, and everyone else here for all this incredible feedback. I honestly wasn’t expecting this video to generate this much buzz.

As for the issues you brought up, when reading these posts our director for this episode simply smiled and basically admitted that it’s impossible to please everyone with a single episode, which is evident in these very comments. Some of you love the table torture, while others think that it’s too long. Some rave about the beatdowns; others want the balance to be tipped more in the heroine’s favor. Some love the outfit as is, while those like you prefer to see a little less fabric.

I think it’s worth mentioning, particularly in light of those who pointed out one conspicuous issue with a certain prop we used, that the budget was more limited with this production than most, which thus limited how much time we had to create an alternate ending. Above all, we did this knowing that there are fans who want to see the heroine be taken down at the end. I myself would love to have seen more extensive action when she was victorious. But again, we were under time constraints. So even though the victorious version was a little longer we felt that it was fair to just keep it at the same price as the defeated version. We’ll certainly make more of an effort the next time around.

Your question regarding the logic of her being taken down when this character is expected to advance to the upper floors is very valid. The ultimate factor in deciding to do a defeated version is that this is what most fans want to see in these videos. So in order to integrate this into the overall arc in which she’s supposed to survive all the way to the end, we came up with underlying character and plot elements that that will likely be revealed more fully in a prequel or an origin story, or perhaps in a flashback in an upcoming episode. There will also be some brief exposition in dialogue probably in the next episode.

Cheers.

Finn

… so sorry, this keeps bugging me, and I am really just curious! So the origin of this is that someone ordered a custom with her being victorious, and then you went ahead and made a movie, where she gets beaten up. If I were to order a custom from you, is that what I might have to expect? I mean, seems like a pretty dramatic change to me, isn’t it? It just would be good to know: if that’s how you run things, alright, but it would probably make me hesitant. Perhaps I have misunderstood something here. I just can’t quite figure it out. Any help?

BigZee
Jacques

@Just Curious, yeah I agree. I was/is contemplating a custom with Rachel in a scenario with more back and forth sustained action combat in which she is victorious. While not a ‘showstopper”, I was was planning to ask Finn to adjust the costume slightly. I will wait to see the next release before I plunge into this. I had seen Rachel in other films and was quite impressed. This series has a lot of potential in my view.

JustCurious
JustCurious

Finn, thanks for the explanation! “Budget was more limited” … does that mean, this was not made for a customer, who had paid upfront or that you charged that person too little, can you enlighten us? “… would love to have seen more extensive action when she was victorious …”: are you saying, that either that customer just wanted a lengthy beatdown, so there was little room left to have her be victorious? Or did you simply decide that this one might sell better with the thorough defeat, the ascent-follow-up-videos and longer story line be damned, sadly? Just trying to understand how this works and what to expect in the future.

Finn
Finn

The fan preferred the victorious version. We wanted to shoot a separate ending for the defeated version, but due to time constraints this is what we came up with.

JustCurious
JustCurious

Ah, so you are saying, this was a custom, where the customer wanted a victorious version, but due to time constraints, you instead filmed a version where she got beaten up and lost, essentially. Got it.

BigZee
Jacques

Hi Finn, thanks, your comprehensive response is most appreciated. I understand the need to please your audiences. Please keeping producing a victorious ending and if possible try to make it more elaborate. I can’t bring myself to watch the defeated version knowing that the objective is to continue the ascent. In any case win or lose, a sustained back and forth action would be great. I think that you have a winner on your hands.

I bought the video a few days ago and I have to say that this is one of the better beat down videos I’ve seen in a while. It’s definitely the best one i’ve seen so far this year.

The outfit is fantastic, the actress sells the action in a great way and properly reacts to all hits given and taken. The table torture scene is definitely my favorite, and much of this has to do with the way the villains ultimately treat her. One of my favorite aspects of this genre is the way villains can treat a heroine over the course of a video. In this particular video, none of the thugs take this heroine seriously. They play around with her, slap her ass and finally shit goes down. Even then they still only slap her around and hit her a few times but until she is perceived like a real threat does the attitude change.

It’s not until she’s actually hurt and toyed with do they go back to not taking her as seriously. Cheap shots are taken, she’s tossed around with very little effort, and they perform torture methods that could be seen as juvenile, but still have effect on our heroine. Pinching her thighs, pressure points on her ears, all of this is done to humiliate her in a way that undermines her skill set. In between all that, the banter insinuates sexual desires from the villains without making them seems ultra vulgar of graphic. Subtle nuances like spreading her legs a bit open, or simply making jokes about being on top all add to the beat down.

The table torture scene works well for me because the villains just treat her like shit the whole time. The pressure points on the ears makes the video for me as we know it hurts the heroine and she can’t really do much about it. All in all, the heroine is fantastic, and the content of the peril is great. If the second floor keeps at it with adding more peril for her to get over and more instances of villains just treating her like absolute shit, then god dammit will this be a great series.

I am looking forward to Floor 2 and hope that the same level of peril is given to this heroine with more manacling villains. Perhaps a 4 on 1 situation? I say just add more odds against her!

Mantower

That is a very interesting take on the table torture and the humiliation in childish ways such as an indian burn. It doesnt mean that i am into it, but i certainly do understnd the appeal of it better. Thanks to DH for illustrating a different perspective which i had not hitherto appreciated!

the cell-phone-taser is still lame :-), though the rest is great.

Haha, agreed, can’t explain that one away

Mantower

I enjoyed the video, the heroine looked smoking hot in the kill bill getup and did a pretty good job selling the action. The table scene was good, although it ran a bit long for my tastes and the use of a mobile phone as a tazer was a bit of a poor effort in my eyes. I also really don’t get the pressure point and pinching torture, it always looks pretty fake and really doesn’t do anything for me. Overall though, good effort. It is the first film i bought from these guys and i will be buying more, especially if they make any more in this series. I hope the villains in the next level will be more menacing and less pantomimy (looking at you, blue vest).

BigZee
Jacques

A pretty good film. Great combat with back and forth action. Excellent peril reaction to the blows. The sound effects from each blow was terrific, although once in a while a bit over the top. Virtually all of the blows were right on the mark. I liked the yellow costume, although I would have preferred lower cut bottoms with much more midriff exposed.
I bought the victorious version but I have to say the way she defeated the villains was disappointing. It should have been more elaborate.
Please tweet the costume and rethink the victorious endings. If our heroine is to ascend to the top floor, I do not see the logic in having an ending in which she is defeated on the first floor.
All in all this series looks very promising. Rachel Day is a winner.

Looks great. Very nice concept to keep the series running. It’d be very interesting to see what new challenges the producers can come up with to keep series followers engaged. And to see if there’s any persistent damage. Like a heroine enduring previously sustained injuries and yet overcoming fresh new baddies.
Looks like one series to follow.

(Once I get pass the web error 🙂 – superb video, strongly recommended for anyone who enjoys balanced fighting&peril. Leading lady has star power and the guys are good, meaning they serve their role without getting in the way.

Definitely looking forward to the “2nd floor” – please, please just keep this success formula, don’t move too far to either side.
